Gordon will be feeling sore right now but he should lick his wounds and stick to task. He got the better of Ireland on their head-to-head and came within a whisker of also getting the better of Poland. The loss in Georgia was typical Scotland – you cannot change everything in two years, while Ireland taking four points from six off Germany is inexplicable.
Gordon is by far the best man to take Scotland the World Cup 2018 qualifiers; get on with it.

Was hoping to drop yerself and, BLANTYRETIM an e-mail yesterday but, my son has been delayed and my Mr McGhoo tendancies around such technology prevented that so, I’ll just say on here that, I have very briefly mixed with some CQNers at the FAC-demo in George Square a couple of years ago and, also at the KOSC club in fenian BLANTYRE at a Q & A session, also a few years back.
But, ye know what….what I recall form those days / nights…was that, a friendly-welcoming-decent-nea-buddies-mugs type of folk that I hadnt experienced since my days of, the mid 70’s-80’s when I was fortunate enough to travel on the JOHN FALLON CSC from BLANTYRE with the very best set of TIMs that I have come across.
I hope one day to go to one of your HOOTENANYs and meet yer guidself and, all the CQNers whom I’ve still to meet.

Up until last year I worked with a guy from Kilwinning, who was the shall we say, the uberhun, proud loyalist, staunch Orangeman (his words) and high up in the masons.
One day was going on about the ‘Catholic invasion of Scotland’.
Before I could put him right with a history lesson he quickly changed it to football.
I asked his thought therefore on the invasion of European Catholic footballers. He sensed what was coming by the look on his coupon.
‘Ambrose, Italian RC, Reyna , Yank, Albertz, German, Vidmar, Aussie, Francis, England, Novo, Spanish…. What about that lot? ‘ I asked him..
‘ Ermm, they’re ok, it’s just the Irish ones I’m talking about’.
‘Oh I see, so it’s only the Catholics who built roads, canals, railways and bridges all over the country, and not the ones who kicked a ball and took millions out the country ”?
He’d gone before I’d finished making my point.
I thought of that bigot the other night when Ireland beat the world champions. He’ll be praying for the Polish Catholics tomorrow.
Sad thing is, this dude held power due to his high rank in the brotherhood, educated or not.
