Big game for Kolo but Craig will deliver best of the season

231

What’s your hopes for tonight? Primarily I’m hoping to see Celtic play the kind of football we watched on Saturday, a fast, pass and move, game. I want to see Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic take players on, for Leigh or Moussa to exploit space often denied to them in league games.

I’d also like to see four at the back. Defending in a formation we’re familiar with, even if it takes place 60 yards deeper than usual. This is where we got it wrong at Camp Nou. This Champions League group pits us against some of the greatest attacking footballers money can buy. It’s not a place for fundamental experimentation.

I suspect we’ll see the best Celtic goalkeeping performance of the season tonight. Craig Gordon will have lots to do, concentration will not have an opportunity to drop, decisions are likely to be more clear-cut that he’s been used to.

This is a big game for Kolo Toure. He’s a player who has little to prove to anyone, but that’s different when facing an English TV audience a few months after ending his 14 year term in the country. His performance tonight, and that of Celtic, will reflect on his decision to come to Celtic. Paul Lambert’s best game for Celtic came against Stuttgart in 2003. He also had a huge reputation in Germany, and an audience he wanted to convince he’d made the right move in coming to Celtic. Let’s hope for a similar outcome.

Enjoy the game.

Many thanks for the incredible support for my Great Scottish Run coming up on Sunday, to assist the work of the Foundation. The linked MyDonate account was at £1690 yesterday is right now is £10 off the £2k mark.

We have some special people among us.

I expect us to get a positive result tonight, I don’t think City are on the same level as Barca and we are getting better all the time. The crowd are definitely a big factor as well, City fans don’t turn out for CL games but we’ll show them what it’s all about.

As long as we are still in with a chance of a point at half time then that’s progress.

If there’s any place on earth that has the power to distract you from such circumstances, it’s Parkheid on a European night.

  5. Looking forward to the game tonight, positivity is required. We need to get in about them not stand offish as in Barca. It’s is eleven against eleven, so what that they think they are super stars. We have eleven plus who can emulate them.

We need to be both aggressive and alert. There is no reason to fear them, let them fear us the fans, the stadium and team. There is no way they will have played in the atmosphere of The Celtic Park Cauldron. Good feeling about the game.

Holiday in Florida with 7grandkids staying vista cay app

Looking for nearest Celtic pub H.H.

No Celtic pubs come to mind in your area, but there are any amounts of places that will have the game on. I’ve suggested a couple of links below. The Tilted Kilt might be my choice, huge American sports bar along the lines of Hooters. The “Brit” pub may be full of blootered little englanders…

The good news is that the game is readily available on Fox Sports 2 at 2.45pm your time, any decent bar should be able to screen it for you if you don’t want to travel too far.

Not at all sure what the score will be tonight but I’m sure of one thing……I hope never again to see Celtic play in such a timid way as they did against Barca,

Celtic were just not Celtic but unfortunately Barca WERE Barca.

I’m not saying we could have taken something from the game but we played as if we didn’t expect to take anything from it before a ball was kicked.

BIg, big opportunity to make up for it tonight. Win, lose or draw.

  10. Good evening champions……

Krombacher is the beer of choice tonight…..far far better than anything to be had in Manchester..

Exciting being back at Paradise in the CL…..awfy braw…hope we dinae get to far fetched tactics wise…a point to prove has no one….to win a point ….jist wan braw braw point….hoopy days..

  11. Not expecting too much results wise, but more than some if the blog is anything to go by, but as mentioned no early away goal so that the 12th man has time to influence the game.

Was the financial gulf the same or similar proportionately to when we beat Manchester United at Celtic Park, or Barcelona or Real Madrid ?

  13. Tonight the Mancs, players & supporters, will get to sample the greatest atmosphere they have ever witnessed and will ever witness in their whole careers. An atmosphere that comes from true love for a football team and what it represents to it’s supporters. An atmosphere only Celtic can create.Let’s hope it helps get us a result.

I’m off to the Carnock for a couple of pre-match shandies then it’s bus to Paradise.

Enjoy fholks, being here is success this season.

I keep reading on here the gulf has changed dramatically since our last adventure in the groups, our class of player has certainly dropped but whether that’s down to us ourselves or the gross disparity of revenue between the pots I’ll let others decide.

Gimme ole Jazz Hands n Nakamura over Craig Gordon n Wee Jamesie any day.

  15. Just make sure you enjoy yourselves tonight regardless of the outcome. We’ve been starved of these evenings over the last couple of years, we’ve missed those butterflies, the hope, the excitement and most importantly, that noise from the stands as they play the Zadok the Priest.

Everyone lucky enough to be at Celtic Park tonight, have a wonderful time.

The rest of us are jealous.

  17. Afternoon fholks from a toasty Playa Blanca in Lanza-not-so-grote. Thanks to CelticRollerCoaster I’ve got a 32 minute walk from my villa to Mollies to enjoy the Hoops. Considered going to a local sports bar but full of the Eenglish and you cant beat fellow Hoops for the atmosphere.

In Brendan I trust to get a great Celtic performance tonight!

    C’mon the Hoops.

  20. TOMMIE20,

Your best bet is probably The Lucky Leprachaun, on International Drive, which is only about three miles away. It’s almost opposite Wet & Wild and beside Edwin Watts golf shop.

Good atmosphere and home of Orlando CSC.

  21. I was positive and buzzing (like i am just now) going into Astana and Beer Sheva games. Who knows? Brendan knows how to play against the epl teams so we will see, The omens are good. Kev out, Our Leigh back with Dembele playing well, Simo has settled the back line a fair bit already and Gordon is alive.

We are in better shape than we were against Barca, A few things that night we could have avoided the 7 goals so lets hope what can be done has been done to learn from that night.

  25. On the train to Glasgow, heading for my first game of season.

Will be happy enough if we give a good account of ourselves, anything else would be a bonus.

The real battle starts against Mönchengladbach for third spot in three weeks.

Maybe I’m biased living in Cologne but I genuinely think we will get the better of them over the two legs.

  26. Klv,

Hey don’t get me wrong, it’s still 11v11 and anything can happen on the night but there’s no arguing the financial gulf is huge.

I never like seeing us lose but this season I won’t need kept away from sharp objects should we finish where our ‘on paper’ stats say we should finish.
