When the Champions League group stage draw was made I don’t think many of us considered the head-to-head between Celtic and Bayern Munich would be critical in deciding who finishes second. PSG’s 3-0 win over Bayern in Paris, together with their 0-5 in Glasgow, effectively ensures they will top the group. Celtic’s 0-3 in Brussels makes it practically impossible for Anderlecht to avoid bottom place.
All this means the only thing left to determine is the final position of Celtic and Bayern Munich. The German champions are overwhelming favourites and rightly so. There may be 32 teams left in the tournament, but two of the top four favourites to lift the trophy are alongside Celtic and Anderlecht in Group B. It would take a gargantuan task for Celtic to get the better of Bayern on the head-to-head, never mind in Munich. You can get 30/1 against Celtic tomorrow night, but I will not be betting, even at those odds.
It is at this stage, worthwhile acknowledging what happened to create this face-off between Celtic and Bayern Munich. Both teams were thumped by PSG, and both beat Anderlecht by three goals; Celtic away from home. Bayern responded to the appointment of new manager Jupp Heynkes with a 5-0 win at the weekend, but that came about because a drift in form was discernible. They are a team who have looked vulnerable.
Great teams can look vulnerable and still win 5-0, and I’m not going to tell you Celtic are going to turn them over tomorrow night, but Brendan Rodgers is planning for exactly that outcome. I might not bet Celtic at 30/1, but I don’t fancy the potential 12% return over one day available on Bayern Munich either.
Many thanks to everyone who entered the competition to win the James Forrest’s National Famine Memorial shirt. The raffle will end at midnight tonight, so if you would like to enter answer this question…….
Which Brazilian PSG player was booked for diving on match day one of this season’s Champions League?

Zenit were at the start of their season – no problem fitting in cancelled games over a six month period.
Rangers wanted to have league games to play after we had played all ours so they would know what they needed to win the league.
That’s bad news about Jozo. Looks like Lustig in the middle and Gamboa RB?
Jozo’s out ? No problem…..
Jamesgang has to be 6’4″ at least, and I heard An tearmann is even bigger … just tell one of tem to pack their boots, kick anything that gets close to them, and if in trouble, give the ball to KT..
there … sorted.
I dont know why you guys think this managing this is so tough… its dead easy.
:)
I am sure Brendan has known about jozo for some time and will have prepared the best 11 available
The big Erik situ is strange
Does anyone know if Erik traveled with the squad today?
Looking forward to game morra night, hopefully we will not show them to much respect.
With jozo out might bring in mikel to partner dedrych and play gambol at rb
Envious of all the boys over in Munich hope you will be smiling at full time.
Good to see your back big jimmy, take care

When it comes to CL nights v the Big Boys my attitude is hope for the best but fear for the wurst.

Couldn’t resist, Auldheid, sorry.
We signed a cenre back yet
Real football is all about dreams , rising to the challenge and defying the odds.
Without expectation it would be soooooo dull and predictable.
HH to the mega thousands in Germany living the dream.
PS : I think Deam Martin would have a fitting member of Jimmy’s drinking clique.
Bayern 10 : Arsenal 2 Don’t want to spoil the party but just a thought to bring us down to earth.
My company has a partnership agreement with Allianz and I still could not get a ticket. Good luck to all the bhoys and ghirls in Munich.
Well if we don’t beat them by at least 3 then I won’t be watching again, until the next time we play
Gamboa at RB tomorrow night may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Lustig struggles against pace and Coman is lightening fast. Lustig at CH is obviously not as strong as Jozo but they are most dangerous down the flanks, Robben/Kimmich on the right, Coman/Alaba on the left.

Would please tell me is Res””12 been kicked into the long grass
Jozo out is a massive blow, but being realistic, it is a big ask no matter what. Just hope we are not turned over.

……Cheers mate, Ive not been to well recently and I can’t get a nights sleep cos of the chronic pain. In the last week Ive also had man flu and a stomach turning somersaults which are still active so I may have to settle for staying in tomorrow and rely on the radio for the celts v Bayern ?
One way of getting some sleep is of course to hammer 15/20 beers…but cos of the other ailments flu and stomach I canny look at a beer just now…however, I’ll see how I am tomorrow.

Oliver Reed used to frequent Peebles quite a lot, locals liked him……landlords especially…
………….Happy to read that Oliver was liked in Peebles, Ive nothing against the man except maybe his idea of fun whilst drunk was/is not the same as mine, I dunno as I didn’t know the man although I enjoyed his work.
Oliver was also in a Norman Wisdom film, where he played a Teddy boy lout. He was very young at the time, and in the film Oliver and his bully boy mates push wee Norman around…bastards !
I can’t remember the name of the film but Norman was in love with the girl in the cinema cash desk, and she laughs at him, and then Ollie and his mates push the wee man around until…………..3 Army boys turn up and scare off Olllie and his mates, and one of the Army soldiers is a very young………………… Michael Caine !
HH
Ive just remembered the Norman Wisdom film with youngsters Oliver Reed and Michael Caine was when Norman joins the Navy.
I cant think of it’s name right now.

Kenny Miller’s agent has slammed Pedro Caixinha over the Portuguese boss’ treatment of the striker.
The veteran hitman has been left out of the squad for the last two Rangers games after a falling out in the dressing room.
It came after accusations Miller and fellow home-based players weren’t being welcoming to foreign imports.

Rangers fan Jim White in Celtic scarf vow
“If @rangersfc have a ‘leak,’ ‘rat’ or a ‘traitor’ in the ranks then they should say who it is and deal with it rather than leave one man hung out to dry!!!
“To make those accusations and then leave Kenny out of the squad and not say a word is embarrassing………..and then do it again! Looks pretty obvious to me where the leaks come from.”
Other news ” Jim White has tweeted that he will be supporting Celtic v Bayern and says he will wear a Celtic scarf……????????????

DD, Sips and Friesdorfer?
Realistically, the best we can hope for tomorrow is giving a good account of ourselves and having a chance of taking something in two weeks.
Gamboa has looked decent in most games and at least he has good pace.
Assuming Lustig is fit and Svietchenko is not, then he’s at CB.
Target for January is a good reliable CB without a history of injuries.
Three tough games in a very short week. Not getting a doing tomorrow would set us up.
Oor oliver used to bevvy in the county hotel in peebles.
I had the pleasure of being in his company a few times.
A gent, a scholar and most of all a great guy.
ONE OF A KIND.
canamalars comments before were spot on. we did struggle against dundee. bayern are a mighty big stepup the last thing we need is to be too cocky.
wonder how ashley selling newcastle will affect new rangers?

Our free flowing football is lacking when Broonie is missing, he seems to galvanise the team, I pray he holds us together the morra, we will need him imo.
THE EXILED TIM. agree we have certainly missed him lately.hail hail.
BIG PACKY
His desire to win is infectious, if we only had a few more Broonie clones in the team :-)
For a player who in the past has been slaughtered by many in the support, he has like cream risen to the top.
