‘BRENDAN WAS REASON I SIGNED,’ DEMBELE

MOUSSA DEMBELE  has promised to star for Celtic – after new boss Brendan Rodgers convinced him his future lay in Paradise.
The exciting 19-year-old French striker has agreed a four-year deal with the five-in-a-row champions after the Hoops fought off fierce competition from England, Germany, Italy and France where his former club Paris Saint German were eager for his return.Dembele – who was a £6million target for Spurs in January – was out of contract at Craven Cottage and was snapped up in a cross-border compensation deal that will see Fulham and Paris St German share up to £500,000.

Liverpool and Chelsea were ready to move, but it was the Rodgers factor that persuaded the goalscoring teenager join up at the Hoops as the Irishman’s first signing for the club.

Dembele admitted he is looking forward to hooking up with his new team-mates in Slovenia when his contract kicks in on Friday.

He said: “I’m happy and glad to be here at a massive club like Celtic and I can’t wait to start and start scoring goals and play for the team and the fans.Cl9aw2EXEAE55OJ

“It’s a massive thing to come to this club and for me to be the first signing of Brendan Rodgers is something that is unreal for me.

“I can’t wait to put everything I have for the team and for the club.

“He (Rodgers) told me Celtic is a good team for me and that when I come here I’ll have game time and obviously I have to show that I can stay in the team to play.

“I think it is a good way for me to progress here with the massive stadium, the fans and the city. Everyone lives for Celtic.

“For me, it’s just unbelievable to play for a massive club like this.”
The 6ft striker was reared by PSG, but made the switch to England as a 16-year-old in 2013.He impressed in the academy and was quickly promoted to the first team where he made an immediate impact in his 15 appearances in his first campaign.

However, it was last season the French Under-20 international hit his stride as he established himself alongside Scotland striker Ross McCormack up front.

Dembele hammered in 17 goals in 46 games to alert a host of clubs – but it was Rodgers who persuaded him his future lay at Celtic.
The news on Celtic’s interest in Dembele was first mentioned on CQN at the end of last week by an informed poster.
CQN subsequently wrote a news story on the club’s interest in the 19 year old striker on Friday and the next day this story was used by the three main tabloids in Scotland, one even claiming it as an exclusive!
Next they will be writing Shane Duffy for Celtic – Exclusive!
