Celtic-City partnership brings Roberts to Glasgow

497

Very pleased we have signed Patrick Roberts (18) on loan from Manchester City for 18 months. A few quick observations on this signing:

He’s another wide attacking player. I’ve lost count of the number of wide attacking players Ronny has signed but it’s far too many. Only Stuart Armstrong has come close to making regular appearances. This means we are still short of suitable options here, so need to recruit for the position, and that we have made a number of serious oversights.

The ideal signing is a loan with an option to buy. Next is a straight purchase, then a loan without an option to buy, but the market is changing.

I mentioned last month that as a consequences of the uber-rich hoarding players (Patrick is a case in point, £12m for a player who will be peripheral for years), mastering the loan market will be a key element to enable clubs to over perform.

Celtic appear to have struck up an understanding with Manchester City, one of the richest clubs/biggest hoarders in world football. There will be rich pickings here. Such was the demand for his signature, Patrick wouldn’t be near Celtic Park unless on a loan.

Jason Denayer’s time at Celtic worked very well for Celtic, the player and City, which is why we were able to secure Patrick for 18 months. More of this kind of thing, please, Celtic.

Welcome to Celtic, Patrick.

  1. As usual in the wake of another poor result, PL and whoever happens to be manager get it in the neck.

PL and Ronny are not the problem, they are simply symptoms of it.

Celtic are simply a rudderless club with little or no strategy to halt a self inflicted, down-sizing driven decline.

Nothing illustrates the fecklessness at the top more than the punting after seven months, last summer’s, by Celtic’s standards, expensive acquisition Cifti.

  2. Aiden Nesbitt to Thistle FFS

Hasnt that lad just scored two against sevco today…now he is gone.

I thought that kid was really good prospect.

Whats the feck is going on

Going out on loan for a few months won’t do Nesbitt any harm at all. It will toughen him up. Will be interesting to see if he get’s a game.

No back up striker. Money down the toilet on Ciftci. Third rate manager. A recruitment policy built on loans. Adopting the role of Man City’s third team. What’s not to like? This is how Lawwell earns his millions.

Nesbitt on loan to Thistle.Wtf is going on? Toughening him up? How about toughening up in a Celtic jersey and get him straight into the team on Wednesday?

Half of the clowns on show at Hampden yesterday should be out the door.

Thats Kazim -Richards signed…Time for a half ffs..

  12. Jim White announces breaking news from his big friend in Glasgow, Peter Lawwell, Celtic sign Colin Kazim Richards and its a good deal. So there.

  13. Buying Kazim-Richards is an embarrassment and it will come back to haunt us. He’s crap on the park and trouble off it. Imagine him in the Glasgow goldfish bowl, and with our media? Somebody should be shot for this one.

  14. I will not criticise O’Hallaron for moving to the huns for more money.

    Never ever.

How much ws he on at SJ?

    Peanuts?

Has he a wife, girlfriend/ boyfriend, an old Mum or Dad who needs financial support?

Maybe he has credit card bills or car/personal loans to pay.

A signing on fee (if they still do them) and a big increase in wages is right for the lad.

Especially as the team he supports weren’t interested in him, AGAIN.

Go on son, change your life for the better.

  15. Stokes loaned out because he has a bad attitude…and we sign Kazim-Richards, a player with a worse attitude.

Who is in charge of transfers at Celtic…The Krankies ffs.

    HH

  16. A wee question for the Happy Clappies.

Is there any team in the SPL or Championship that would not fancy its chances against us in a cup tie encounter?

    Colin Kazim-Richards signs for Celtic

By: Newsroom Staff on 01 Feb, 2016 19:06

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Colin Kazim-Richards has joined the club on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Feyenoord.

The 29-year-old forward becomes the latest addition to Ronny Deila’s squad during this transfer window, joining Danish internationalist, Erik Sviatchenko, who made his debut at Hampden on Sunday, and winger Patrick Roberts, who also signed for the Hoops today (Monday) on an 18-month loan deal from Manchester City.

Colin, who has made nearly 40 international appearances for Turkey, has played most of his club football between England and Turkey before moving to Holland in 2014, initially joining Feyenoord on loan before making the move a permanent one last summer.

Everyone at Celtic welcomes Colin to the club, and he will be officially unveiled as a Celtic player later this evening.

Underwhelmed would be a step up to what I’m feeling now.

all of them if we have to play for 80 minutes with ten men

  21. Re some posts above, Allan and Christie were cup-tied yesterday so it’s harsh to pin that on Ronny (or Peter Lawwell for that matter)

    Philbhoy,

    I honestly couldn’t a flying one regarding O’Halloran.

Another so called striker who can’t score goals.

  25. I couldn’t do it but there you go, clearly Celtic Hearts Aberdeen were not interested.

I wonder who has scouted Richards?

  26. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Usually find something positive about our signings, but struggling to see much in Richards. Other than he isn’t Steven Fletcher…..

  27. Geordie Munro

If he’s any good, like young Tierney, keep him here and give him a game.

If he can’t get a game for some of the crap masquerading as Celtic players here, he’ll be better off at Thistle.

    I wish him well.

  28. Four and a half hours to go, will we strengthen in any of the positions we need to (defensive midfielder, striker and right back) or is our ever expanding list of wingers it?

And here was me thinking that traditionally ten men were always harder to play against.

Perhaps to put yesterday in perspective.

When THEY return next season THEIR ticket allocation for CP will be around 7,000.

This is something around 1500 in excess of the population of Dingwall.

  30. A lot of anger on here today.

Let’s see how things transpire over the course of this season.

    You just never know.

Whether you agree or disagree with signings , loans etc. these players will either become fan favorites or duds.

No need for us all to get upset because things will happen that Celtic want to happen regardless of what the fans think.

Unless there is a solution to getting fan’s choices signed then we are only arguing among ourselves.

We are run a certain way and we can choose to support the team or not.

All for opinions but seems nothing is right when we do have more than a lot of others to look forward to.

Give the signings a chance or do not, everybody has a right to be given one in my book.
