CELTIC will play their Champions League second round first-leg qualifying clash against FK Alashkert will take place on Tuesday, July 10.

The tie will have a kick off at 8pm local time, 5pm in the UK. The return will be eight days later on Wednesday, July 18, with a 7.45pm kick-off at Parkhead.

The trip to Armenia will see Celtic play in temperatures of up to 40 degrees as they look to reach the Champions League group stage for the third successive year.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have to go through an extra round of qualifying to get into the groups, with four rounds of qualifying in eight weeks.

Despite the long-distance trip, Hoops assistant boss Chris Davies insisted it will not be a problem for his side, as reported in CQN yesterday.

He said: “We’ve been throughout his before as a staff and as players. The simplicity of it for us is if we play to our level, we play with our normal way and normal intensity, then we’ll beat them.

“We travel there first and we’ve got them at home second, which is a positive.

“But we won’t be underestimating them. There will be no complacency whatsoever, because as we’ve seen before these teams can be tricky to play against.

“We’re excited for the challenges ahead and we’ll look forward to the games.”
