CELTIC ODDS ON FOR ODSONNE

CELTIC have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain striker Odsonne Edouard.

Brendan Rodgers was in the French capital on hush-hush business on Thursday while the Champions League draw was being made in Monaco, ironically pairing them with Neymar and Co as well as Bayern Munich and Anderlecht.

Edouard, a powerful 19-year-old frontman, has yet to play for the first team, but caught the Hoops’ attention while he was on loan at Toulouse last season.

Moussa Dembele, of course, has been sidelined with his hamstring problem while Leigh Griffiths, too, has been hampered by a calf injury. The double blow has prompted Rodgers to target a new frontline attacker as a priority.

Born in French Guiana, Edouard joined PSG’s academy as a 13-year-old before progressing to the B team.

At Toulouse, he scored just once in 16 appearances and was developing to his parent club’s satisfaction.

However, the deal was scrapped in bizarre fashion in February after the player was suspected of having shot at a passer-by with an air gun. Although he denied any involvement, he was eventually ordered to pay a fine of 6,000 euros as well as damages of 2,600 euros to the victim.

That incident hasn’t put off the champions, though, who are believed to be at the head of the queue to take the player on a one-year loan deal.
