  1. Snake

We are woefully short in a euro standard, we need a proper eat his Granny def middy ( joke ) or we will get crucified, I also think we have to play to our strengths and that is attack, we just can’t defend imo, stand off our CL oppos and they will destroy us, we have to go for it, I would much rather lose against them giving it a go as opposed to trying to defend and getting beat, the game against Beer showed that we can’t defend, against quality, I fear, so we have to do what we are good at.

Still at the scottish level we will blow them away, we play at 60% and still win 4-1 :-)

    HH

  2. Well the fixtures computer had a wee bug.

It was uccessfully programmed to ensure Sevco had an easy start.

However the routine to make the first Sevco game after a midweek Europen night didn’t get performed.

Instead we have a two week rest before “welcoming” the undead to CP.

Bang goes any remote possibility they would gain a point.

The fixture programme will be binned.

  3. if we get cocky against rangers, they will beat us. I know we can score a few against their defense but they have pace in the wide areas and miller and co will mix it up. I’m confident but only if we are professional!

they played kilie on that terrible pitch – i’d take a draw on that and in the second half rangers created plenty of chances.

they have a few new players who will improve as they get used to each other – again, we are much better but they can hurt us if we don’t apply ourselves!

  4. Stebhoy

They only got the better of Killie after the sending off.

They could have Ben two down as Killie were denied a stonewall penalty.

  5. Stebhoy

We shouldn’t be complacent against ANY team. Red Imps??

There is no danger we will be anything other than fully up for it.

As others have said above, Sevco beware.

  6. Beat the traffic despite the Dons buses in Springy Rd.

Celtic scored two excellent goals and in between the large contingency of Dons fans wakened up to their goal after falling asleep along with the Celtic defence.

James Forrest had no right to score with the outside of his right boot, but score he did after some cutting forward play, by the Hoops. Celtic were strolling when Leigh Griffiths put us ahead after a sublime touch set him up for his own umpteenth hammer strike.

Paradise filled with returning fans saw Aberdeen come out of their defensive shell at 2-1 down and they dominated large sections of the second half where tired ageing legs in the Celtic line up were making all of Efe’s mistakes, and we took another mid game nap.

But we were never really in any danger and although Bobby Madden put down his marker in three minutes giving a bizarre goal kick to Aberdeen, he couldn’t ignore Scott Sinclair who showed his class all day and ran our closest rivals ragged for the penalty.

Celtic and Tom Rogic especially showed he could yet be a ninety minute man, but Brendan Rodgers still needs reinforcements especially in the tackling, battling midfield areas where Celtic lack at least one combative player.

I thought De Vries was a bit nervy in his debut didn’t fill the sticks or the stands with confidence, on another day his howler in the first half would have been severely punished, but BR naturally wants his own men in the side, which can only be positive for Celtic and he showed his own style when he was again happy to let Celtic defend and get behind the ball for long periods.

    M.O.M Scott Sinclair

    special mention Green Brigade Drummer

  7. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Great goals today. It’ll take time, a right back and another midfielder to adjust to De Vries in goal. Rodgers driving a further change in game plan with his introduction.

Thought the second period was strange. Can’t recall Celtic playing the ball back to a keeper quite as much. Aberdeen played further up the park and we didn’t have the answer for quite some time. Brown isn’t a player to take the ball deep and distribute either.

Fantastic result at the end of a fantastic week.

    More changes to come.

  8. Craigellachie10 on

Enjoyed the game Aberdeen in the second half hustled us into errors but flashes of quality say us home. Must admit though that if Dorus was brought in because he is better distributing with ball at his feet then I hope that was just an off day. Doesn’t seem to be able to kick it very far either. I’d happily see Gordon back in place on the 10th.

  9. Happy with the win and 4 goals. 4-1 was very flattering, Aberdeen should have scored at least a couple of times more. Some random thoughts…. Thought we lacked any sort of shape. The passing out from the back should have been kiboshed after 20 mins, it was chaotic. Right back situation is a complete nightmare, really! It took 20 minutes longer to get McGregor on for Bitton than it should have. Brown was running on fumes. Taking Griffiths off was questionable. You can’t please some people eh…..Delighted to see Paddy back and Sinclair is different class, thought he was outstanding!!

Much to be happy about but also room for considerable improvement.

  10. Just in from the game………….what an atmosphere, sun shining and a full house. Its’s been a while since i came out of celtic park with my ears ringing from the sound of the support. Bring on the sevco. By the way did anyone hear the bhoy from Provanmill (i think) call out keevins and johnstone on their sevco winning the title prediction….priceless!

  11. An Teach Solais on

Back in faster than I thought from CP. After the journey from hell after the funeral from hell. The only people at the sparsely attended who expressed any sorrow about the death of a former teammate were the two of us from Scotland. Suffice it to say that the deceased’s two grown-up sons who claimed in Anglo-Saxon that they were glad that their father was dead – all due to his sharp mouth.

Glad for the victory and THE TIMREAPER at 5.47pm has expressed my thoughts entirely on the game. Heard McInnes, a man without class. HH

  12. Gerryfaethebrig on

very rarely Cqn disappoints but the match report article “catch us if you can” surely a more appropriate picture should have been used…….anyway on that note have a good night fellow Celtic fans

  13. Back in from a sun kissed Celtic Park. Yes, I agree 4-1 flattered us, but I will take that.

If Lustig , Brown and Biton had all not had poor games Aberdeen would never have scored, but I will excuse them just so long as it is not becoming a habit.

Biton does concern me, but that was balanced by seeing Rogic still running after the 60 minutes mark. I hope he is not heading back to Australia in the next fortnight?

Saw some stupid Aberdeen casuals having a go at Celtic fans outside Turnstiles after full time, they were desperate to have a go, throwing traffic cones about. Disgusting to see a little kid of about 11 in full casual gear joining in with the full blessing of his equally dressed ugly mother, yes mother! Heaven help the poor sod who created that being.

  14. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

I think Tom Rogic is going to be a superstar for us over the next couple of years if we manage to hang onto him.

  15. Aberdeen were their usual selves today – well-organised and physical. We were great until the equaliser then never recovered the same zip. However, overall we had by far the best chances and the best performers. Rogic was excellent, TourĂ© was good andbRoberts was really good when he came on. With a bit more guile and better timing of runs we’d have won by more. De Vries hardly had a save to make.

  16. Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths has paid tribute to a young footballer who died after collapsing at a training session.

Kieran McDade, 13, died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a warm-up at Dunbeth Park in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, last Thursday.

After scoring against Aberdeen on Saturday, Griffiths held up a strip with “RIP Kieran” and the number 13 on it.

Earlier, the striker had said he would be meeting with Kieran’s family before the SPFL match at Celtic Park.

Kieran, who played for Dunbeth Football Club’s 2003 team, went into a coma after the cardiac arrest and was transferred to the Royal Hospital for Children at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

    RIP Keiran McDade

  17. Very sad about the wee bhoy, really strange that the goal was scored in the 13th minute as well.

  18. eddieinkirkmichael on

Great result, some great forward moves but still cause for concern at the back but really who gives a Feck we’re top of the league and our next game is against a team that is newly promoted and struggling against the weakest teams in the league.

  19. Just back in….all good re result. Disappointed that BR chose this game to bring in DDV. Looks like he’s b,among Gordon too. Unimpressed by DDV today. Still, overall a great position to be in.

  20. Well done, Leight Griffiths. Poignant gesture I’m sure the poor kid’s family will take comfort and pride from.

  21. 13 yr old lhad, number 13 shirt, goal scored in 13th minute……God rest JM and comfort his family.

I saw the lads team mates gathering outside main stand today and they looked a great bunch of kids and they were well marshalled by parents or coaches or who ever .

I hope today helped them all in a small way.

  22. Well done Leigh Griffiths and RIP young Kieran

Enjoyed the game today and as expected a bit of a hangover from the midweek exertions.

Brendan all out looking for a no 8 box to box midfielder. We are too static in the middle of the park.

Once we despatch Sevco and win the game in hand we are 7 points clear —-and they have more tough games to come.

Here we go 10 in a row —–Level5 eat your heart out !

  23. So tragic about the young boy and the family.

A great tribute from Leigh, he’s manned up since coming to the hoops on and off the park. Hail Hail to LG.

  24. 4-1 flattered us today. Well on top and overplaying possession across the back too often until their equaliser.

3 great goals and a great run from Sinclair to draw the penalty to finally secure the win.

I understand Brendan’s call for patience with playing the ball back to keeper and across the back to keep possession. Today though to many slack passes were made or passes to players in close position to opposition players were made when others were in better positions.

Disappointed once again in Scot Brown who was particularly slack with his passing and tended to play a lot as a fifth defender rather than orchestrate the midfield drawing Aberdeen onto us unecessarily particularly in the second half.

A result is a result and I’ll accept 4-1 from a game like that any day.

Wasn’t overly impressed with Devries. Hope it was just a touch of nerves. No real distance in his kick out or great distribution either. Almost cost is another goal.

Leigh brilliant as ever. Wee Jimmy played well as did Sinclair, Toure, Sveichenko and Rogic. Teirney gets better every game I watch him. Bitton soft in possession and tacking.

    GB outstanding.

    MWD

  25. Well done the hoops. Great result, though a bit nervy in the 2nd half. Nice tribute from Leigh for the family of young Kieran. What a tragedy. Big Nir, tackle and fish supper comes to mind ! Need a tiger in midfield. HH

Inside The SPFL ‏@AgentScotland 1h1 hour ago

57,758 fans inside Celtic Park today, Amazing crowd, both Celtic and Aberdeen fans were in great voice…unreal arena when it’s packed.

  27. I didn’t want Celtic to sign Griffiths and I disagreed with many on here at the time. It was nothing to do with his footballing ability, I’d noticed him when he was still with Dundee. No it was his off field behaviour and primarily the tweet he sent telling someone that they should go back home because the guy was black.

Someone on here, apologies but I can’t remember who, pointed out that maybe Celtic was just what the guy needed.

Well I met him at a supporter’s function and my opinion of him slumped even further.

    And here’s the however.

I’ve heard great tales of his generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness in a variety of situations and these come from very reputable sources. Today I watched him lift wee Jay out of the North Stand and cuddle him like he was his own.

Whoever that poster was, you were right and I was wrong. Celtic is exactly what Leigh Griffiths needed.

  28. A very well done to Leigh Griffiths after scoring the opening goal.

Fantastic gesture in paying his respects to young Kieran McDade.

Thoughts and prayers with his family.

  29. A wee call out for one of our on loan players Luke Donnelly.

Luke joined Alloa on loan last night, he came off the bench to score Alloas third goal in a four goal victory.

    Good start.

Hopefully he will return to Celtic and live the dream.
