  1. North Cyprus (formerly Baku) Bhoy on

    ELLBOY on 23RD JULY 2016 9:47 PM

If that was Efe’s debut today we’d all be excited at seeing a tremendous talent joining the club.

    ============================================================================

Couldn’t agree more! Really hope that the fates are in Efe’s favour in the next few games. A fine Mhan, and a fine footballer too!

    D.D.

Yes I would like that very much.

Before he falls out with me, I have to say I need to meet up with, our now famous lurker, Hamiltontim. I not met up with him since November.

Twice we’ve sorted the dates and I’ve had attacks. Not that im blaming H.T. of course. :-))))

  3. ‘FORREST FLUFFS SPOT-KICK GLORY’. What’s that all about?

We have to listen to plenty of negative propaganda without resorting to ourselves. The keeper made a good save and Forrest’s penalty wasn’t the worst taken.

Decent performance against a good team.

  4. What is the Stars on

    The Huddle

Yea,you are probably right,I liked Telfer,he did what he did to the best of his ability but for some reason a lot of fans never took to him

So now we have a new dilemna

Those who were scapegoats and deserved to be and those who were scapegoats and didnt deserve to be.

Of course some players probably fit both catergories….Though that shouldnt be allowed

  5. Paddy Turner

    Hugh Maxwell.

Now THEY were real scapegoats. None of this modern day namsy pamsy ohhhhhhh I’ve broken a finger nail scape goats.

These guys just stood there and took it on the chin. Kev Jungle will tell ye. Bet he knows more real scape goats than Billy The Kid.

  6. Charlie Gallagher and Tommy Callaghan and others were very good footballers of that time. Cannot remember them being heckled from home crowd. I do remember Bobby Murdoch getting pelters from The Jungle.

I’m with NeganonX and blame the board for us losing to Partick Thistle in that league cup Final 40 something years ago. Manager Stein had nothing to do with it.

    x

Agree with the solid performance. Forrest was/is pants. Nothing to do with his spot kick miss. It was poor BTW.

  8. Saint Stivs.

    Yes Dom Sullivan.

Definitely, he was given the blame for everything. Even when he wasn’t playing, the malcontents of their day, gave Dom the blame.

  9. If I was the manager of that team today I would have taken a lot of encouragemnt from it.

It’s a funny word encourage. It means give courage too

  10. I thought Telfer was crap initially, but he ended up a solid reliable defender. Excellent against Man United, if I recall correctly.

    ————–

I’ll create a spreadsheet so that we can keep track :o)

I think Telfer was hated because he was WGS’ pal so seen as a bad guy, shit where do we put WGS in the scapegoat spreadsheet

  12. If anyone detects a change in my tone I spent the afternoon in the company of a horde from E TIMS.

    Like CQN but on spam.

    Kidding Etimmys. :)

  13. What is the Stars on

I just knew Paddy Turner would be mentioned sooner or later

I remember him playing League of Ireland (when I was a kid) and he was a smashing player at that level…maybe not good enough for the Cetic team of that era

But every team needs a scape goat

  14. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Scapegoats is usually a word used as an excuse for players who frankly are not good enough.

There are plenty at Celtic Park.

Then there are gutless, couldnae care less players who weren’t up to it in games where it really mattered. In CL qualifiers,Europa League games and games against Ross County and Sevco.

That ‘s the games these players should be judged on.

  15. What is the Stars on

Telfer played very well against Man Utd

I think you are correct Huddle,he was seen as Strachans Pal, poor old strachan he was hated while getting us out of the group stages of the champions league.

    Now we cant get in

  16. THE EXILED TIM on 23RD JULY 2016 9:56 PM

Efe will come on leaps and bounds in no time working alongside Toure,

I played the game at a decent level and coached at UEFA B. I dont blame any supporter for not being able to see a player. They mean well without having a scooby.

Take Forrest, all the ability but no baws. A coward of a player who cant overcome his inefficiencies.

Izzy? has no strength in his legs to deliver a decent baw. Has had time enough to sort this out. Too much praying not enough weights.

    Thanks

The blog should be all about a bit of crack and banter.

Jaysus there is enough hardship in the real world

Are all football fans as mad as us… seriously .we played well today, got a decent result against a very good team with much greater resources than us and what happens

We start a moan fest over someone missing a penalty

Imagine if Ronny was still in charge….probably be some loony posting Ronny Out

  18. Tricoloured Ribbon on

    Wits,

I remember my da giving Turner and Carroll absolute pelters..:-)

Was very young so only remember them vaguely. .

  19. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Izzaguire has never been the same player since that ankle break.

His crossing and positonal sense is atrocious.

Strange days indeed, I remember having to defend WGS, Telfer and Naka from that team, imagine that trio today at Celtic. Crazy bunch those tims :O)

You are well and truly at it Foxy..

    Pour me a whisky pal..

  22. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Dom Sullivan……I liked him…….was scared to say as much back then. The guy pitched in with quite a few goals too.

  23. Izzy? has no strength in his legs to deliver a decent baw. Has had time enough to sort this out. Too much praying not enough weights.

    Foxy thats a helluva statement.

Take it your uefa B license was taken at the sfa??

    Feck me………

  24. Bobby Petta?.Did I hear someone mention him as a “Scapegoat”.

After what that wee man did to “Can you hear the drums,Fernando”,he should have a statue outside the Stadium.

    Great goalkeeping scapegoat,Big Frank Haffey.

  25. Tricoloured Ribbon on

For Strachan to win three titles, whilst the cheating was probably at it’s highest ,was nothing short of phenomenal.

To think I gave him stick at the time to for things.Sorry wee man.

    Cheated fecken rotten man.

Efe, mibbee if Toure comes in. Let’s wait on that.

Izzy was a fine player before his ankle injury. Since then, he is a shadow of his former self; rarely now does he go past the defender on the outside and deliver a telling cross.

Forrest is a former one trick pony who now does not have the heart to properly compete or to deliver any end product. A disinterested chicken heart. Punt him right away!

My late father loved the legend manager Mr McGrory. He despised Mr Kelly. Till Jock arrived. :)

Bobby Petta?.Did I hear someone mention him as a “Scapegoat”.

What I said was ….maybe brendan could get a few months of decent contributions out of James Forest in the same way MON did with Bobby Petta ( or words to that affect)
