Unless people come in who can seriously improve the side then I think we should all be worried.

I have no doubt the players and manager will give their all but they are up against it already and if proper money is not spent between now and next week we are in bother.

The side we have couldn’t get the ball off an Israeli team the other night.

    It does not bode well.

    Looks like (from Twitter):

    MD1 Barca v Celtic (Tue 13/9)

MD 2 Celtic v Man City (Wed 28/9)

No,mate. Just your natural bonhomie coming out.

  5. My friends in Celtic,

No such a thing as embarrassing in this group. We are expected to be cannon fodder.

Me thinks we can spring a few surprises, however We need ALL our support at Parkhead to support as one. Lucky Brendan may well have a few leprechauns c/w pointed hats to pull out of the bag, but we need to play our part.

I wonder what Patrick Roberts would do if Man City asked him not to play ?

Hail, Hail . We are back where we belong.

  6. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Should be a fun day in Manchester, wee trip across the pennines for the night and watch the game in O’Shea’s,disappointed if only one more player is coming in but I’d be happy if that means Paddy will become permanent whilst the water and leccy is in credit ;)

  7. Looks like we will have to confound the doubters and win all home games in front of the magnificent Celtic supporters and ‘spawn’ an away draw

Crazy, innit? Judge a man by the company he keeps, etc.

Quite happy to be in the company of every CQNer I’ve met. And to avoid one or two I haven’t.

    Heyho. Different strokes.

  14. I see those who can’t let it go are still bumping their gums about the flag thing, wouldn’t be so bad if they at least got their facts correct, blaming the GB for the Fcku Uefa banner when in fact it was students who lived in Italy who displayed the banner, but never let lies get in the way of an agenda.

You really need to do better Mr Pastry, fecking off the blog would be better mind you but you won’t so get your facts right, there’s a good troll.

  15. I was in a meeting till late and could not check the draw so I stopped in at the local supermarket and ran into The Boy Jinky who was the first to break the news to me.

Afraid to say, I reacted with a sharp intake of breath and a feeling that this was a mighty difficult draw. 2 minutes of speaking with TBJ filled me with a bit more positivity about the task.

We will land a few on these big teams and enjoy the experience on the way.

  16. embramike says "the Huns are Deid" on

MD 3 and MD 4 v Borussia M look to be crucial if we are to grab 3rd place and EL after Xmas.

Their coefficient is only 1.575 better than ours so not much in it. Glad we have them at CP first – 3 its and lay down the gauntlet

Hopefully the Board takes your point on board. Give Brendan the budget and let him get on with it. The CL money should be spent to improve the quality of the team. Don’t know the amount of money if perchance we were able to get through the group stages but it must be astronomical. Don’t suggest that we overinvest but sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate, as the saying goes. HH

  18. Roberts will be able to play against City. UEFA dont allow that rule where a player can’t play against parent club.

  19. Been reading that the Barca Ultras have been at Celtic Park so often – they now call themselves…..

    Braw .

  21. Back on my monthly visit to CQN.

Great draw for me. The tax-dodgers and oligarchs are openly taking over the game and we cannot be anything other than outsiders. We haven’t the football authorities (SFA/SPFL let things happen, not make things happen) to force BT Sport and Sky to support Scottish football in proportion to the income we give them month on month but we have the team to provide heroic attacking successes more than most so it will be an exciting adventure. We have banked big money (by our standards) by getting to this stage so anything else is an adventure.

The venues are great for those lucky enough to have the money, time and opportunity to travel and we have nothing to lose. Our fans will be safe and will show how to travel and enjoy rather than fight. Go and enjoy!

    Tough draw!!!

  23. Bit of a tough draw to say the least. Having said that if offered this group after 60 minutes on Tuesday night it’s fair to say we would have taken it. Bit sick of the sight of Barca mind you but good to play two new teams in City and BM. Time to ‘tool up’ with a few new faces methinks.

  24. embramike says "the Huns are Deid" on

Borussia ‘head to head’ games take place after the October international break so most of the squad should be rested for these key games.

  25. Barca and city through before we play them in the final two games?

The etihad will probably be half empty on a meaningless final match day so it’s as good a time to play them as any

I reckon I can get us up to 2nd if I carry on

    ONEMALLOY

Düsseldorf seems to be the airport of choice, mate. Brussels is a hub and might be cheaper,I reckon about two hours by train.

  27. I’m glad we didn’t get Real Madrid in the group stages. Can’t wait to meet them in the knock-out stages though.

  28. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

Jist as well we have two teams.

    Wan fur the SPL(?).

    T’other fur the CL.

    Ahem…

Great to be there… let’s hope we can compete.

    I think we will !!!

  29. Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell

“It could’ve been easier,” he has told BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound. “There’s some real glamour ties in there. Really great nights ahead at Celtic Park.

“City, we’ve got a great relationship with. Great nights ahead.

“It couldn’t be any more difficult but [Brendan Rodgers] has got off to a great start. It’s been a fantastic start. We’ll have an attempt to get one more in [a player] before next Wednesday [transfer deadline].”

Can he reveal the position Celtic will attempt to strengthen? “No.”

    Just the one then?
