CIFTCI VACATES NUMBER 7 JERSEY AS SUPPORTERS WAIT FOR WHITE SMOKE

NADIR CIFTCI has completed his season long loan deal to Plymouth Argyle this afternoon.

The striker has failed to impress manager Brendan Rodgers and looks set to see out his contract at Celtic through a series of loan deals. Handed the coveted number 7 jersey by former boss Ronny Deila, the Turkish striker never really looked the part in a Celtic jersey.

The 25-year-old did score two goals away to St Johnstone and that possibly was the highlight of his time at Parkhead.

Ciftci, like Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay Steven, arrived from Dundee United in 2015, with Celtic paying the Tannadice club £1.5million.

He made just 11 appearances for the Hoops and has spent most of his contract period to date out on loan, firstly at Turkish side Eskisehirspor and last season Polish club Pogon Szczecin.

The move to Plymouth will be reasonably familiar for the player who previously played for Portsmouth.

The move frees up the Number 7 jersey but it isn’t expected to be vacant for very long!

White Smoke is expected after the Champions League place is secured.
