CQN Open, Intensity required

CQN Golf Open 2016

The 12th annual CQN Open Golf Day will take place at Aberdour Golf Club in Fife on Friday 29 July. Our annual trip to Aberdour is always a fantastic day. Those who play golf (not me) enjoy the stunning Fife course, while we all participate in an evening’s entertainment and chat.

The day is always fully subscribed, so if you want to attend, please email Taggsybhoy at cqnopen2016@gmx.co.uk . Cost for the full day’s golf and evening meal is £80. There are a limited number of dinner and evening-only places available at a cost of £45.

We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes far and wide over the previous 11 events, and enjoyed some great times. See you there.

Aberdeen’s visit to Fir Park on Saturday looked like a stiff test on paper before news broke that the Motherwell squad has been devastated by a virus, which has forced the club to cancel training this week. There’s little Celtic can do about that short of extending their lead to four points earlier tomorrow afternoon with their visit to Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock are marooned in the play-off position: 8 points from bottom, and five from Inverness and Hamilton above them. They’ve scored only once in their last four home games but have the curious claim to be unbeaten by Celtic this season.

We looked sloppy on our first trip to Rugby Park in the autumn and impotent when we faced them at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock would perhaps suggest they simply figured out how to frustrate us. They’re not alone with that belief.

I was concerned about last week’s game against Thistle and Kilmarnock tomorrow. Our next outing, in two weeks against Hearts, will take care of itself, the adrenaline will pump for that one, but we need to create our own intensity away to teams in the bottom half of the table.

We didn’t turn in a classic performance last week but, straight from the off, it was clear we were sharper than at any point since thumping Hamilton two months ago. A focus returned to the squad (as did a Commons and a Bitton). With the large uptake of tickets by Celtic fans I expect our edge to be evident from the start.

On the subject of non attending supporters, I, like many others, work long hours(not a complaint ) in the care sector. Not living near Glasgow ensures chances of attending are rare due to work, cost, travel arrangements etc. To watch Cifci and the other duds? Not worth it.

I wish it were. Guess I am less of a supporter. The commitment of our Irish supporters always inspires though.

I couldn’t disagree more, however, it does depend on what an individual is ‘better informed’ about Jim.

A guy I’ve mentioned on here before who never misses a Celtic game, anywhere, once said to me about blogs like CQN, “Why do you need other people’s opinion of Celtic?”

    He has a point.

Certainly, with regards to Res12, CQNers are better informed than many, simply because the 4 requisitioners are posters.

    That aside, I wouldn’t agree.

  3. If you are Ronny, the selection dilemma’s are as follows :

Retain Erik and Charlie at Centre half, or drop Charlie and return Boyata… I’d go with the former. Erik and Charlie for me.

Central midfield sitters : Brown and Bitton

Attacking midfield 3 : If GMS is cleared as fit, then both he and McGregor should be trusted to continue their form of the last 2 matches. No. 10 role however, does Ronny continue with Commons (who has been p*sh) or do we play either Rogic or Johansen in behind Griffiths?

Other than that…. Mon the Hoops

  4. That is a pearl of wisdom Hamilton Tim, I’ll keep it in mind always.

Why indeed do you need someone else’s opinion.

  5. If Celtic the board and support do nothing regarding Res12 then we should shut our mouths for evermore about dodgy refs , corrupt officials etc, etc. We have probably a once in a lifetime chance to tackle the bias we knew existed for decades ,if we do nothing we should take our place at the back of the bus and shut up.

Your agreement only confirms that you’re as mad as a box of frogs…..and me! :-)

  7. I may not agree with RD’s team selections-and seldom do-but it is all systems go for the remaining games. A united Celtic front in the face of a hostile onslaught against us..5 In a row BhoysCSC

I probably did not make my point very clearly.

Basically, I was trying to say that the majority of Celtic Supporters are still informed by the MSSM. Possibly , the influence is indirect but is still an important influence nevertheless. CQNers have at least some positive Celtic stories to digest and that will have an impact on our views.

In a nutshell, CQN is more positive about Celtic than is the MSSM.

I hope you see a convincing victory tomorrow.

Yes, there are a lot of Celtic ’old firmists’ out there waiting.

and The Rangers are getting bigger crowds than Rangers.

It’ll be some in, and some out at Celtic, nobody knows

    the figures.

    There are three camps with Res 12;

    A) Heard of it and know what it is I.E.

Article 66 of UEFA’s licencing means,at 30th June 2011,a club should not have an unpaid tax bill.

Rangers were issued a tax bill on 20th May 2011 for £2.8million with regard to The ‘small’ Tax Case.

They had 30 days to appeal this.

    They didn’t appeal.

    They didn’t pay.

Therefore, they had an unpaid tax bill

The SFA allowed them to keep the licence.

Res 12 is aimed at the SFA conduct

The SFA are refusing to answer Res 12 guys.Instead wrote an insulting letter.

Res 12 fans are for going to UEFA but think it should be Celtic to do so.

Celtic, apparently, agree it should go to UEFA but via the fans, not them.

    B)

Heard of it but I don’t know what it is, AND:

    C) Never heard of it.

But most Celtic fans whether sub consciously or not, know that cheating took

place, what can be done about it, is another matter.

Before it was confirmed Scottish Football was bent, Celtic fans went to see Celtic

regardless, I don’t doubt that’ll continue, and crowds will go up, and down.

  13. Aiden

I’ve made the point before. We willingly (complicity?) took part in a Glasgow Derby for decades against a club that we knew conducted a policy of religious apartheid.

    Is that any worse?

  14. Hamiltontim

Reagan is basically saying we will cheat.

My mind can’t comprehend why I should therefore spend time and money knowing that.

Do you think if we accept being cheated, it will get worse or better?
