DEMBELE’S TOP FRENCH DEBUT PUT ON HOLD

CELTIC striker Moussa Dembele has failed to earn a place in Didier Deschamps’ French international squad for games against Luxembourg and Spain.

The 20-year-old hitman has been in superb form during his debut season for the Hoops with a 32-goal haul as the club chase their first treble in 16 years.

Dembele, who arrived from Fulham in the summer for a £500,000 development fee, made his debut for his nation’s Under-21 side in October.

He had been tipped by many for a senior call-up after scoring four times in four games at that level while also being named Young French Player of the Year.

However, Dembele has found himself behind the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann, Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud and Monaco’s uncapped star Kylian Mbappe in Deschamps’ pecking order.
