Denayer set for Galatasaray

552

Manchester City central player, Jason Denayer, will join Galatasaray before tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The central defender was on Celtic’s radar after the injury to Rivaldo Coetzee, and all other things being equal, I believe the player would be happy to head back to Celtic, where he played season 2014-15, but City are set to conclude the deal with the Turkish club.

Celtic will soon have Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko back from injury, while Jozo Simunovic was rested for recent games on plastic pitches, but is available for selection alongside 19-year-old Kris Ajer.

With three senior central defenders already at the club, plus one development prospect, I believe City were concerned that Jason would not have seen the development opportunities he enjoyed at Celtic first time around.

i for one am glad, but very disappointed that we were back in for him, given his form over the past 2 years.

    Best of luck to him.

Hope so. As PAUL67 points out,we have three experienced centre-halfs and they’re all injured.

Fair enough, difficult to plan for that. After all, whodathunk that after the Willo Window we would have three experienced international strikers who couldnae hit their own arse wi a banjo?

  3. Another backwards move for Denayer.Galatasaray, whom quite a few of my friends here support, are a team in crisis.Struggling season after season.spending fortunes on over the hill duds. What City are thinking God only knows.I am glad he is not coming to us,a shadow of the guy we watched.Feel sorry for him though.

  4. Sent this to Queensland paper The Courier Mail. Thanks all for the comments earlier

To the individual who abused and threatened me today 30 August at approximately 5pm on James St, Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, driver of a black car registration number RFC09, let me introduce myself properly seeing as you seemed to know enough about me to verbally abuse me and threaten me (wee Catholic, I’ll slash you”) as you sped away bravely in your custom made registration plated vehicle.

Like you I am from Ireland. I am from Dublin, in the South, your accent clearly told me you are from the North. I shudder with sadness and depression when I think we once shared the same beautiful island (I’m assuming you now live in Australia given the car you have and you wore clothes that suggested you had been working today).

I feel sorry for Australia to have a bitter, nasty, bigoted, childish, boorish ape in its beautiful country who sees fit to verbally attack and threaten me simply because I walked down James Street wearing a Celtic Football Club top.

You deemed it worth your while to overtake me on the footpath and the people I was with and then unleash your unprovoked bile. Not content with my not rising to your primitive hatred by staying silent and smiling at you, you got something in the shop around the corner and minutes later, with you clearly still raging at my audacity to walk along a Gold Coast street as a tourist wearing a football top, you then unleashed your extra verbal venom promising to “slash me” as you sped off thinking what a great man you are in your RFC09 registration plate numbered car.

Yes I love Celtic Football Club. I’ve loved Celtic since I was five years old. I knew nothing about their Irish origin, knew nothing about the Northern Irish troubles when I was five (in 1971 when The Troubles were already tearing the North apart).

I love football. My parents taught me values, respect, tolerance, manners, decency and inclusion. I live by these values. I love Ireland, Celtic, Australia and people. Australia was a home for my late brother for 27 years until about this time last year.

Like me, he taught his two Queenslander sons respect, tolerance and values. They were with me today, as was another relative who is an Iraqi born Englishman. Wow, how you must be sick to know an Iraqi/Englishman was also in my company, another gentleman of impeccable values, respect and decency.

He was horrified. My grown-up nephews were dumbstruck at your pig-ignorance, bigotry and hatred. I told them you are to be pitied.

You are pitiful. You are horrible. You may have a nice car but you are nothing.

I know more about you in your two encounters with me, from the dozen words that came from your disgusting mouth and your warped mind, than you will ever know about me.

I kept my silence and my dignity. All you have is hate, bitterness and bigotry. Therefore you have nothing. You are nothing.

Ireland is a better country without you. I look forward to one day knowing Australia is also shut of you.

    Drive carefully now.

    Yours etc

The Hun reporting(i know i know…) the deal for Rivaldo Coetzee might be back on….

I cant see this anywhere. What does it say.I would have thought that since he has been playing with this for so long,it was worth a chance for the CL groups.Someone told me it was an insurance problem.dont know if thats true, but surely after the groups it could have been fixed?.Does not seem serious to me.We did not try and sign him lightly.a lot of work would have gone into this.Surprising to me.

  7. Celtic40me-I seen another SA team linked, but their statement last week said he could not ‘join Celtic at this time…’,i took it from today’s article,we are still looking to bring him in.HH

  8. BADA BING,

If that was your experience today in Australia, I can only express my sympathy. I doubt that would even happen in this part of the world these days, bad, as I well know, it can be.

  9. Go tell the Spartim on

Id be mightily surprised if we signed anyone else now, if our back up plan was trying to sign Denayer.

  10. Celtic40me-TB-You are correct sir, speed reading the rubbish…another SA team in for him….

  11. I don’t think Denayer has been too impressive in the last couple of years. I saw him representing Belgium. He looked well overweight. Sunderland were simply awful and I don’t think he made any impression.

A quick look at Galatasarays squad list on Soccerway shows they already have 11 defenders! Either its not up to date or Man City have lost the plot,

  13. Go tell the Spartim on

There was interest from other south african teams in rivaldo but according to Ajax Cape town they didnt think that was good for his development, this was when he was mooted to be joining us, i suspect, as its in teh Hun that its regurgitated cack in an attempt to make us look amatuerish

  14. Rivaldo Coetzee is moving to another South African team. Looks like that one is dead in the water.

So that leader seems to be dampening expectations of actually signing any central defender….

Ah, i see the PLC are really ‘backing the manager’, not.

What a surprise, who would have thought it eh.

    Same old s****, different season.

  18. same old celtic board – ensuring we are “nearly” a good team. Back Brendan or he will walk!

  19. I know Paul Clement had a link with Bayern Munich but Renato Sanchez to Swansea on loan has properly annoyed me

  20. Didn’t recognise Denayer as the player we had when watching him with Galatasaray and Sunderland.Looked unfit and overweight.

  21. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

Are we really going to play Bitton as CH against PSG and Bayern?

    Seriously!
