“Are you now willing to accept that losing the league is a credible risk and, is it a price worth paying to keep Ronny and his philosophy in place? ”

Losing a league is always a credible risk until it is won. It was credible at the start of the season. it was credible when we were 7 points clear and it is credible now that we are, apparently, in “joint” 1st place. It is the degree of credibility that you must evaluate.

As of today we are 1 to 12 on to win the title. Is that really a lot more credible than the 40 to 1 on we were. And Aberdeen’s odds are in from 20s to 8s. If we even get a point from the game in hand they will be back to double digits again. No one really fancies anything than a Celtic league title win. We have been predicting failure for Cletic in the league for a long time now. It is a popular pastime in the August to December period on CQN , less so in the March to June period.

But, don’t worry! Someday the prediction will come true and we will lose a league- just like the prediction of WGS being a failure were eventually proved right.

And whether RD’s philosphy or Roy Keane’s or anyone’s is in place, the odds of winning or losing the title wont change much. Next year’s starting odds will be more generous than this year’s and the year after that the bookies will reduce the odds on a team challenging us. Competition finds a level. When rangers won the league in 75, Celtic had a lot of good players and were still more than a match for the Ibrox mob but we still lost 2 titles in a row to them.

You cannot be top dog forever but I think we have 2 or 3 years of winning ahead before it gets really tough.

    Time will tell.

Now, I’m off to ma kip

  2. Setting Free the Bears:

Totally agree about last year’s Sevco game. In fact, Referee Thomson “managed” the game to avoid their humiliation.

But consider this. We had Virgil and Denayer, they had no management. We have gone in opposite directions.

I have totally given up on a legal or financial denouement for them. They are obviously getting finances from a source that does not appear in Deloitte’s accounts. The unholy cabal of the administration, judiciary, administration and media will simply not countenance their well deserved extinction. Combined with the treacherous MIB, they will definitely challenge next season. Much is made of their failure to beat Kilmarnock, a poor team that we have failed to beat in two attempts this season. We will need a full team of gutsy individuals to overcome them. Who falls into that category?

  3. SFTB

I believe we will win the league this year despite all the attempts by the MSM and the funny hand shooglers at Hampden.

We are far better equipped for a run in over the Spring.

I think it’s the smart option. Ronny will win the League and the Scottish Cup,

It’s very tricky posting on CQN, Facebook and watching the Suprabowl at the same time! Come on Panthers!

  9. Super Bowl CQN Update

    End of 3rd quarter

    Denver lead 16-7.

Carolina hit upright with FG attempt.

Newton sacked 5 times so far.

    Denver defence dominating. Still

You’re at it again. I’m recording it to watch in the morning !

    Only kidding :-))

It doesn’t look like Carolina’s night. Bronco’s defence are killing them.

  11. setting free the bears for Res. 12 & Oscar Knox…

If the “sleekit” references were, as alleged, an attempt to stifle debate or dissent on CQN, then bankiebhoy (and the ironically un-named others who were put into his “clique”) have been remarkably unsuccessful. There is no shortage of dissent, decrying and demeaning of the team or club on here. In fact, there is a veritable glut.

So, because they’re unsuccessful it’s OK to call posters names? I didn’t put any names to the perpetrators or the victims – because I genuinely had no idea who they were aimed at, and on seeing a reference would skip by the post. All I know is they’re aimed at belittling someone for having a point of view. I remain firmly of the opinion that it’s both pathetic and cowardly to malign people for having an opposing point of view. Further, to do so obliquely and with such a grossly offensive term isn’t on.

And ‘demeaning’ the team? Sorry, I think you mean criticising them. However, even if the terminology was more robust, there’s the aspect of harm. The critique of the team isn’t aimed at the players. And isn’t aimed at them personally. One poster on here undermining another and suggesting they’re untrustworthy is a *direct* attack.

So why are the mineshafters so sensitive to being called out on it? You have the comfort of being of the majority persuasion on here. It is actually harder to take the view point of being able to spare a good word for Celtic as you are more likely to receive criticism for it.

Are you seriously suggesting you don’t know why people would be sensitive to being referred to as “sleekit”? It’s offensive. It’s an ad hominem attack and undermines people. Basically it’s an attempt at bullying.

No one should be subject to attempts to force them into silence. You’ve been on the blog probably as long as I have – it’s always been a welcoming place. It’s always been a great forum for *discussion*. Quite why you’d be an apologist for unreconstructed bigots incapable of accommodating any view different to theirs is beyond me.

If you need to resort to that behaviour or approve of it, it says more about you than me.

    It’s me that’s old.

Hopefully we’re both aging like fine wines!

And CQN is aging me further.

You and me both! If we’re really turning the clock back, you reckon we can resign Bobo, Chris Sutton and Henke? With a side order of Stan Petrov and Paul Lambert?

  18. I’m slightly older than the Plains bhoys, but I know them.

Mind you the Plains produced more than a few Brophys and Laffertys

  20. Good night lads and lassies.

Leicester being top of EPL must have a number of English club blogs in turmoil and meltdown.

We have the cup draw tomorrow with Lubo giving us a home tie. Aye right.

    I wouldn’t mind hosting Kilmarnock.

Bins to be left out and need to be up at 5:30.

So it’s a good night from me and

    God bless Ronnies everywhere.
