GRIFFITHS SHUTS UP BIG MOUTH ASTANA BOSS STOILOV

1

BIG SHOT Leigh Griffiths played his part in silencing Astana boss Stanimir Stoilov.

And the Celtic striker was delighted to have an answer to the Bulgarian coach who had confidently predicted Champions League glory for his team.

The three-in-a-row Kazakhstan title winners had knocked out old Hoops foes Legia Warsaw in the previous round and Stoilov was convinced they would bring misery to Parkhead last night.

However, his words were buried under a fine team performance with Griffiths involved throughout a hectic 90 minutes.

He said: “They were all full of talk about how they were destined for the Champions League.

“You need to remember we put them out last season. They need to start doing their talking on the pitch.

“We don’t shout from the rooftops. We don’t get above our station.

“We do our talking on the pitch as you saw. You saw in Norway that given the ability on the counter-attack we have we are always going to score goals.”

Griffiths and his team-mates will get the chance to complete the job in the return leg on Tuesday.
