CELTIC assistant boss Chris Davies insists the preparation for the Champions League qualifiers begins now.
The Hoops flew out today for a two-week training camp in Slovenia, which will include four games, as they continue to get ready for the new season.
And Brendan Rodgers and his deputy will discover who they will face in the second round of Champions League qualifiers by the time they return on July 10.Cl9c5XIWEAEtlt5

Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar or Flora Tallinn of Estonia await Celtic and Davies admitted there will be a step up in the training routine after last week at Lennoxtown. He said: “We’ve had a good week’s training and had double sessions at times. We’ve had about 10 sessions and another this morning and now we’re off to camp for the qualifiers.

“The first competitive game is in two weeks’ time, so we’re really focused to make sure we can fast-track some of our ideas and some of our tactical ideas that we’ve got for the team to get them in early.

“Right now it’s about football fitness and the physical condition of the players, but we know we need to get some of our ideas in quickly because we start very soon.”Cl9aw2EXEAE55OJ

The champions returned to Lennoxtown a week ago today and have enjoyed an intense first week of training under their new manager as they bid to get up to match fitness in time for the qualifiers.

Davies admitted the management team have been impressed by the squad’s attitude and said the pre-season camp in Slovenia will give the group a good opportunity to further bond and work towards their fitness goals.

He added: “We’ve had a good look at them, spent time with them and it has been great. The players have been fantastic with their attitude and mentality and we’ve been pleasantly surprised by that and also the quality they’ve shown. We’ve had a really good week.

“The manager’s happy, I’m happy and we’re looking forward to going to camp now and ramping it up.”
