BRENDAN RODGERS admitted he was RELIEVED Kieran Tierney didn’t score in the 2-0 win over Sevco Rangers.

The Celtic left-back fired a drive wide of the far post as the Hoops hunted a third goal at Ibrox.

And the Parkhead boss joked: “Kieran is a huge Celtic fan, absolutely huge.

“I don’t know what he would have done if he had scored at the weekend.

“Kieran came close with a shot across the goal.

“I wouldn’t like to see him score against Rangers – he would be on a booking!”

The Hoops gaffer paid tribute to his 20-year-old Scotland international defender when he added: “He’s old school in terms of his quality and determination.

“He works hard every single day and he’s a good boy.

“In fact, Kieran doesn’t know how good he is, which is nice.

“He has no ego and comes in every day and just gets on with it.”
