CELTIC legend Tommy Boyd is hoping for a Green Party at Hampden on Scottish Cup Final day on May 27.
The former Hoops skipper believes Brendan Rodgers’ remarkable debut season could be capped with a grand finale and a fitting end to a wonderful campaign with a meeting against Neil Lennon’s Hibs.
The League Cup is already in the Parkhead trophy cabinet, the sixth successive Premiership crown is poised to keep it company and the champions are only 90 minutes away from booking their Cup Final spot.
The Easter Road side will have already taken on Aberdeen 24 hours earlier when the Bhoys face Sevco Rangers in the second semi-final on April 23.
Rodgers is on the brink of becoming only the third Celtic manager in history to complete the clean sweep, following Jock Stein, who achieved the feat twice, and Martin O’Neill, who claimed the treble in his first season in 2000/01.
Boyd said: “A Scottish Cup Final between the holders and the Scottish champions? Yes, that’s the Final I would like to see.
“The supporters would like to see that and I hope personally that Lenny and Hibs do well against Aberdeen.
“I would like to see Hampden being a sea of green and white at the Final in May.
“That would be a nice friendly Cup Final and one everyone of a green and white persuasion would like to see.
“It would be brilliant for Lenny to guide Hibs back to the Cup Final on the back of Alan Stubbs getting there last season and Hibs and winning it.
“Lenny may have to content himself with taking Hibs back into the Premiership as I believe Celtic will lift the Scottish Cup this season.”
Boyd added: “I don’t agree with the notion Celtic should focus on the treble and rest a few players.
“If they were to claim the Invincibles tag then that’s something which would endure for generations.
“If you look back at the Invincible team which Arsenal created during the 2003/04 season then you still see programmes being made about that side so you only need to look back to that.
“If you are being greedy then you would want to have both the treble and the Invincibles label placed on them.
“It would speak volumes about the level of performances which has been consistent so far this season.
“I understand why people say Celtic shouldn’t be preoccupied with their chase to become The Invincibles, but I don’t agree with them.
“The longer this run goes then the greater the desire for it to be something Celtic will be desperate to protect.”
