I said charitable as in the loving or right thing to do.

Not charity which comes from the same source and is also the right thing to do.

Charitable or loving is the driving force behind acts of charity.

Real acts of charity do not produce discord indeed they produce the opposite.

When I say loving I mean as in Corinthians 13.

Love is patient, love is kind, slow to anger etc etc.

I see little sign of it over the LW.

This does not mean I see one party more or less charitable than the other, it may well be the Board are the culprits and have forgotten what Brother Walfrid as a man of Christ was really about, which was loving his fellow man.

Equally are the critics of the Board acting in the Corinthian spirit? A bit of introspection on both sides might help arrive at a truly charitable solution.

As it says in scripture somewhere if anything is done without charity (love) it will not succeed. For me truly charitable acts produce harmony and it is the absence of it that has prompted me to set out my view.

I understand your point and thanks for providing the opportunity to clarify what I mean.

  4. So TD67 you are only reacting to what posters say.

I admire yer stout defence of what you believe in, in the face of a cliqued onslaught…coz some of their pals loast their troosers when they took ye on.

I know that we’re at odds with each others vantage points.

I know that you’ll fight tooth n nail to defend your Celtic, long may you fight.

From a comical point of view and, dont take this as a cheap dig….coz it’s no.

But when ye say yer ah’ll tell yeez this stuff….that’s grand, it is, it is, it is.

From a personal pov ah like the way that ye say some of yer stuff and, at times ye sound as though yer verging on Rab C Nesbitt – “Ah’ll tell yeez this bhoys!”

Btw…is the elephant the big pink heevy jeevy guy?

    Hail Hail tae ye fella.

  7. Auldheid,

Why would wanting the lowest paid to get a living wage be anything other than Corinthian ?

Or to put it another way, what Christian spirit would you attribute to those who prefer the poorest to remain the poorest and actively apply that policy ?

  8. Thanks to everyone who has ordered THE WINDS OF CHANGE. All copies have now been shipped so should be with you shortly. This book picks up where Caesar & The Assassin left off and covers managing Celtic in the period 1991-2005.

We have some pretty special prizes for a Christmas raffle for everyone who has shopped or has yet to shop at the new CQNBookstore.com site. Will post more info on this shortly.

Overseas postal deadlines for Xmas are approaching so for those in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA etc if you want THE WINDS OF CHANGE or any of the other Celtic books and DVDs on the CQN Bookstore, the time is now…

    hi

been lurking here for a wee while :) I really like it. Thank you for my education. I need it, I dont really like soccer, but LOve watching Celtic. I started following the Fitba at the beginning of the dark 9 in a row. Things seem pretty rosey to me these days and I like RD. I used to get info about Celtic for ‘my DA ” from the internet (a different animal back then lol) and been hooked ever since.

I dont follow Ozzie politics, never mind other countries and a lot of stuff is beyond “my ken”. I can see the bias in the MIB but dont actually hate anyone, especially people who have different opinions on who how or why they,” scream for their team.”

irrespective of the topic or the context of the discussion, I find comments like this, gratuitously without merit.

My own practice is to assume everything posted in the comments section is written by a very young person, lol, it helps develop tolerance lol. I respect many posters on here and what I have learnt is how to ward off the nonsense from the other mob. (especially the more vile jibes) again thank-you very much.

  11. James gang.

Had a look and realise Corinthians 13 is the basis of my argument and found this modern interpretation that is faithful to older versions.

    The Way of Love

1If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

2If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

    Love never gives up.

Love cares more for others than for self.

Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.

    Love doesn’t strut,

    Doesn’t have a swelled head,

    Doesn’t force itself on others,

    Isn’t always “me first,”

    Doesn’t fly off the handle,

Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,

    Doesn’t revel when others grovel,

Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

    Puts up with anything,

    Trusts God always,

    Always looks for the best,

    Never looks back,

But keeps going to the end.

8-10Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

11When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

13But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

I have to admit that I do indeed have an elephant in my living room. A wee statue of the hindu God Ganesha. . Half man / half elephant. Always suspected he was a celtic supporter ;)

There is no right side and no wrong side in my opinion just two bloggers who dont like each others point of view.It is possible if the two Bhoys involved met each other they would get on fine as they both have the best interests of Celtic at heart. H.H.

I saw a needle that winked it’s eye

But I think I will have seen everything

When I see an elephant fly!

From Dumbo that is, but my favourite elephant was ‘Kala’.

  16. Canalamar

None. It is in going beyond self to others that we manifest love/ Corinthian spirit.

Given what I thought what Celtic is supposed to be about I don’t understand it’s absence unless of course those in charge think differently.

” We must recover the whole sense of gift, of gratuitousness, of solidarity. Rampant capitalism has taught the logic of profit at all costs, of giving to get, of exploitation without looking at the person……..and we see the results in the crisis we are experiencing!” Pope Francis

Auldheid many of us want the Celtic board to see the person who works at Celtic park, lets put in practice Pope Francis words of gift and gratuitousness by paying them the living wage

  18. A sunny 15 degrees -way down south .

Up at 6 this morning ( it was cold ) to watch yesterday’s game . Much work to do today ! .

A win is a win but I thought Celtic were poor ….

Went to Palermo v Rubentus last night . . Enjoyed it — pace / skill / intelligence from both teams — Rubentus had to work hard for a win but they are a level above Palermo .

Back to work – busy week ahead – wee holiday ( with a game thrown in ) in Istanbul coming soon.

  19. Joe, Be careful with your advice the last time a blogger who had an online spat with Tony met up face to face, it didn’t work out too well-allegedly.

  20. oops –

meant to add that Palermo v Rubentus included the seemingly obligatory violence between opposing Ultras ( before / during / after the game ) .. Pathetic !

CORKCELT. That is a great pity fella I dont think I have ever met A Celtic supporter who I could not get on with.I have met plenty of Celtic supporters who didnt share my point of view. However, the fact at the end of the day we were both Celtic supporters has always meant we agreed to disagree and we could accept where each other was coming from. H.H.
