Kilmarnock don’t enjoy Celtic Park

575

Kilmarnock don’t enjoy visits to Celtic Park, winning only once there since 1955, but seldom have they been on the receiving end of such a humiliating result from such a young and inexperienced Celtic team. You and I have seen these games – especially in the League Cup – go wrong so many times in recent seasons: Morton, Falkirk and Partick, to name just three.

What we have at the club now is energy and purpose that makes even our experiments seem potent. Brendan Rodgers must have been delighted at what he got from his players.

For some, like Leigh Griffiths, it was another hour nearer full fitness. These minutes are crucial in preparation for the almighty test of the season against Astana at Celtic Park one week from today.

Really pleased Roy Aitken will be around Celtic Park more often in future in his new role as Club Ambassador.  Roy was a huge figure at Celtic in the 70s and 80s, but there’s at least one generation since who know little about him.

SOT GLEN WAS CLASS SUFFERED BADLY WITH DEMENTIA OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS..

  7. Moderation had absolutely nothing to do with the poor quality of gags – it related to pointless name calling.

Unfortunately there are a few posters on here who have a history of deletion (and some with yellow cards) who monopolise the blog. Frequently when they’re on the receiving end of name calling, their retorts become personnel and sometimes threatening or abusive.

Merely a caution to a few individuals on their 7 hours inane postings that was getting tediously tetchy.

  8. closing in on some other records, here hoping.

    ————

    Unbeaten runs

Longest unbeaten run (all): Celtic currently hold the UK record for an unbeaten run in professional football : 62 games (49 won, 13 drawn), from 13 Nov 1915 until 21 April 1917- a total of 17 months and four days in all (they lost at home to Kilmarnock on the last day of the season).

Longest unbeaten run (home): Celtic also hold the SPL record for an unbeaten run of home matches (77), spanning from 2001 to 2004 (this run was ended by a 3-2 defeat to Aberdeen on 21 April 2004), and the record for the longest run of consecutive wins in a single season (25 matches).

Undefeated domestically in all three major competitions in a season (League, Scottish Cup and League Cup): 2016-17 (the InVIncibles).

    Lay off the Mods :-)

    And i don’t mean make them redundant…..

It’s a thankless job, and this place does, like it or not, need moderation at times.

Stands to reason that, if you have more than one, you’re bound to get different opinions of what is and isn’t acceptable, and to be fair the spat about the cat has probably gone on longe enough. People will have read enough to make up their own minds without any more mudslinging or name-calling. ( the jokes are a different matter…..one of the most endearing qualities of this place is the humour of contributors )

As someone else said, we saw a fabulous performance from a young Celtic team last night…. Why not talk about that ?

For example……what a legacy Brendan is building here. One of the things we should be aspiring to is building a team of quality home-grown talent, augmented by players like big Moussa, Tom Rogic, Ntcahm, Kouassi, and, dare i say it, young Patrick Roberts. It now looks like Brendan is very close to achieving this, and being able to sustain it in the long-term too, if we can be assured CL football most seasons.

I’m more than a little pleased by what i see on the park these days. Been a while since we could say that.
