Leigh, Kieran, marking your card

596

The most important result in international week is that we get all our (33) players back fit and ready for Saturday. That looks to be the case, although I hear Erik Sviatchenko had a close shave at Hampden. The job now is for Ronny Deila to assess the preparedness of his squad for the Hearts game. All may be fit, but it’ll be impossible for the likes of Tom Rogic to be at his best after coping with a 12,000 mile journey home and the necessary body clock adjustments.

Ronny will also have to counsel Kieran Tierney, who has had another big week. Teenagers often progress in waves, after with each crest there’s often a trough. The focus for Kieran right now has to be 100% Hearts.

I read Leigh Griffiths had an uneventful game against Denmark. Don’t bet against him shining on Saturday. He’s a player who flourishes with a point to prove.

I’ve not written much on Resolution 12 recently and I don’t see that changing for a few weeks (despite the trolls), but I have been very active on the subject. Anyone who thinks I’d skip over this is welcome to self-certify as a mindless troll below (I’m counting on at least one being sufficiently mindless…).

What I’d like to do is mark your card on this one. Completely erroneous claims have been made. Outrageous things have been written. There’s a Kangaroo Court underway which would do Salem proud. Let the loons run with their agenda of running Celtic down, but be circumspect. Your card’s been marked.

You are being played, all right, but not by Celtic.

Why dont you name names, or anyone who criticises Res 12 and the way Celtic are dealing with this appear to be a troll in your opinion, I am not a hun have no affection for them unlike our esteemed major shareholder.

This present issue on Res 12 was raised by BRTH and the possibilty of an appeal to UEFA being time barred, nothing else, in my opinion I am grateful to him for knowing what is going on with this, and, not having the backers of Res 12 unaware of this.

Oh and btw free speech was why Cqn was brought to us was it not?

If we question Celtic are we all loons?

Disappointing statement in the Rory Bremner category imo

Only issue with that is that it’s not actually within PLs power to control that, is it?

Hypothetically they could still not get promoted but if they do, it’s possible they could get relegated. What then?

    BEING PLAYED BY UNFOUNDED GOSSIP

The story is often told of the most unusual penance St. Philip Neri assigned to a woman for her sin of spreading gossip. The sixteenth-century saint instructed her to take a feather pillow to the top of the church bell tower, rip it open, and let the wind blow all the feathers away. This probably was not the kind of penance this woman, or any of us, would have been used to!

But the penance didn’t end there. Philip Neri gave her a second and more difficult task. He told her to come down from the bell tower and collect all the feathers that had been scattered throughout the town. The poor lady, of course, could not do it.

That was the point Philip Neri was trying to make in order to underscore the destructive nature of gossip.

When we detract from others in our words and speech, our malicious utterances are scattered abroad and cannot be gathered back. They continue to dishonour and divide many days, months, and years after we speak them as they linger in people’s minds and pass from one tale-bearer to the next.

  5. Blantyretim,

I agree with you about the state of Pearse Park, Cambuslang. I walked past there on my last trip, I couldn’t see the memorial from the main road.

I often wondered what happened there I think I read somewhere that it’s owned by the Scottish GAA? Although i’m not 100 per cent sure.

    DD,

Thanks for the clarification. I looked at the Glasgow Gaels website earlier, great photograph of Paradise ! The GAA is great over the summer months.

DESSYBHOY@3:56 – No one is criticizing anyone for bringing Resolution 12 to the table, nor should they – however the fantasy and vitriol that surrounds the discussion of it on here, is ‘beyond the pale’

    ‘erroneous claims’ yes indeed.

And as we have been pointing out.

    See Dermot on that one.

Did he not praise highly the people who have been shafting him directly.

    Strange forked-tongue tomfoolery.

While at the same time, the board are never slow to criticise Celtic supporters, and worse.

Respect is something that needs to be earned, you cannot buy it.

You sell your principles for money…you will be held in contempt.

The PLC should be aware of that.

    HH

  10. When people are kept in the dark about potential issues like time bars on res12 and it takes a poster BRTH to bring this to the attention of those who backed the resolution, and thought, the plc board were dealing with this in conjunction with the requistioners, do you think that this fosters trust?

Thats what causes fantasy and anger.

  11. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

You cannot keep the supporters in the dark, and then complain when they become slightly suspicious.

Too much secrecy isnt good….confidences, secret deals and agreements, not good imo.

There is a chasm between the PLC and the supporters.

Billionaires, Millionaires, Lord’s, Politicians, and Celtic supporters….this is the reality.

The PLC is run by wealthy men, who do not identify with ordinary fans.

    Secrecy and silence….thats the problem.

    Too many ego’s.

Many thanks for that Auldheid and my compliments on your work on this so far!

From your answer would I then be correct in assuming that, given the time constraints and statute of limitations as such, that the SFA do have a get out from June 2016? It would not surprise me that as vested interests in this going away they adopt a ” move on, time has passed for any action on this” attitude.

That is of course possible then?

  13. The Resolute Mr Pastry on

THEGREENMAN@4:11 – sorry to say that your piece looks like a number of SMSM banner headlines stitched together.

You are entitled to your opinion, as we all are – however if this kind of ‘whispering campaign’ against those who the current guardians of our club continues, it will damage the Celtic family.

And you know what – when this topic finally runs its course, no doubt another equally spurious issue will replace it, to beat the board with.

There are those among us who seem to hate the Chief Executive and board members because they are ‘businessmen’, and shamefully in some cases, because of their political choices.

Now I don’t know if they hate all businessmen, or only Celtic-supporting businessmen – perhaps they might ‘come clean’.

To suggest that those in charge at Celtic would deliberately do things to hurt our club, is for me, unthinkable – unfortunately I cannot say the say for some of my so-called fellow fans on this forum.

  16. Read what Paul wrote again, there’s maybe more important words there than his wee dig about trolls.

On trolls, maybe he’s referring to a poster who has come on here over the last week or so and insulted Paul for his lack of comment on this crucial issue while reporting that he’s just spoken to his contact and here’s the latest!!! This contact is a complete clown who has seriously dissed a hugely respected Resolutioner and who hawks to the MSM stuff lifted from sites like this after adding in some fantasy for enough money to buy a school kitchen for Mary’s Meals. Zero insight, zero knowledge of what is going on.

Who to believe him or Paul?

Is that source is better, more reliable, more interesting than Paul who may just be holding fire until the enemy is in range? Rant aside read again.

I’m saying whether TRFC get back into (or stay in) isn’t really within PLs control. I accept they may well be doing things to make it smoother, but I’m not sure it would be a business priority given that much of it is beyond the clubs’ control.

I suspect (as they’ve stated in the past) they spend more time working out how they can be sustainable without any TRFC related income, and it that does bring any boost in revenue it’ll be seen as a bonus but not to be depended on.

  20. a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers

Paul, who can you possibly mean??

  21. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

When people say, ” If I am wrong, I will hold my hand up.” I feel they feel that such an attitude is deserving of respect ( or even admiration). If said holding up of hand removed any and all damage incurred by expressing the erroneous opinions, then they might have a point. If the damage is irreparable, then it would have been better to hold fire in voicing those `entitled` opinions until in possession of sufficient information to make them valid.

Just because we cannot fathom why Celtic do not speak out more on several matters does not make their policy wrong.

The Resolute Mr Pastry explained the problem in his parable at 4:02. Rectifying the damage caused by unsubstantiated offerings can prove very difficult,

The other problem is the time spent trying to retrieve those feathers that by being released require attention, which means less time spent on getting across the actual aim of Res12 – the message that SFA and clubs ultimately are accountable.

The mechanism though is daunting and needs upgrading.

I have previously quoted the wise words of the Philosopher and Poet, Prof. Kenneth Rogers, ” There’ll be time enough for countin’, when the dealings done”.

There are a few twists and turns in this business yet, before the full story can be told.

In the meantime though, Je Suis SFA, Broadfoot, has placed all their eggs in the Semi Final Basket.

A packed stadium will tell the SFA all they need to know; i.e., the fans are craving for the “return” of them…..and who on the outside can argue with that.

Anyone who buys a ticket for that SFA show piece, is justifying the SFA and no amount of “just being there to support Celtic” will wash.

You are not going to be part of the solution, merely a continuation of the problem.

Attendance is not going to help the team one bit. If that was the case, what happened against Ross County, ICT, etc.?

Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you need them.

Those who plan to attend have it in their grasp to strike a blow at the heart of the SFA.

Sorry for the delay, but had to go out unexpectedly.

Maybe with the approach of season ticket renewal time, and with the prospect of being in direct weekly competition with The Big Lie, the Board has become more circumspect in any reference to the Newclub.

However, since the incorporation date for The Rangers Football Club Ltd which you posted, we have had Desmond’s ‘fantastic club with a great history’ statement, and the Celtic FC official website’s report of Kris Commons winning the goal of the season for his goal in the “league cup semi-final against Rangers” to give but 2 examples of going along with the continuity myth.

I notice you didn’t disagree with the description of the game in Scotland being a farce while the Big Lie is allowed to flourish.

Don’t blame you, as we’ll very soon be getting told how a four year old club will be appearing in its 52nd Scottish Cup semi-final!

    Now that’s entertainment!
