  1. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Canamalar

He was culpable or their first goal.

Not just my opinion ….WGS ,Stan and Sutton thought so too ….

  2. Realistically, the problems we have do not stop and start at Ronny.

Our ownership structure – which allows someone with a minority shareholding to effectively run the club – is killing us.

I know there are people on the board at Celtic who are totally baffled as to what DD’s aim is for Celtic, and who feel he is holding us back.

Is there the stomach for a revolution? Whilst we have appear to have a stability we didn’t have under the Kellys and Whites, I fear even this is an illusion. We are falling backwards at an alarming rate, with CL group qualification going from being our minimum expectation to looking like a distant dream.

As Jack once said: Something’s Gotta Give.

  3. Twisty/PFayr,

Celtic represent a microcosm of world economics, the top 1% get more while the rest pay for it.

  4. I dont like to see the Celtic getting cuffed by anyone,

When Celtic get cuffed I always console myself by, reminding myself….at least it wisny the huns that done us.

When the huns have done us….the dark room.

Molde were on the crest of a wave.

Celtic have to realise that, in Europe….because of all the downsizing of the product on the pitch by those who run us….’we’re’ the underdogs….purely because of the, diluting of the quality by PL etc….

So, we have to be cagey….park the bus, play on the break….feed off the scraps.

Better to draw 0-0 than be skelped…imho

Sadly, the manger in the dugout at Celtic Park isny cute enough.

I’m not specifically signalling out RD here, he’s just a symptom of the problem….any manger under PL’s watch will have to be conditioned so…cuteness is knocked out of them during the interview process for the job ie: you must be prepared to dispense with your natural instincts and, strictly adhere to the PL managerial-puppet-show.

Any manager who displays a mind of his own, is seen as a threat to PL’s pravda-structures that he has installed in the club.

    WGS – Puppet

    BTM – Puppet

NFL – After his 1st season – Puppet

    RD- Puppet

    Who’s next?…Sooty & Sweep?

Johnny Collins….imho should be given the keys of the dugout.

    Players dont like his…shape-up-or-ship-out-philosophy….tough!

Kris Commons as I’ve said on here loads of times…if he dizny score…what does he do?

Too many fans have been duped by KC, coz he did a marvellous charitable deed a few years back and, he should be forever remembered for that deed. But….for how long will he be allowed to dine out on the back of that deed?

If, KC wants to be a Celtic player….he has to be managed.

His antics towards Johnny Collins in the dugout last night, portrayed him as being far from the charitable-saintly-figure that many fans fell for.

Folk say that KC has achieved more success than, JC did for Celtic…of course he did.

KC didny have to play under the poor product in the dug out of the early 90’s.

Folk say that JC done Celtic out of money when he went to Monaco?

    No didnt.

Fergus McCann tried to tell JC that he was being sold to Derby or, Middlesboro.

JC showed cojones by telling McCann where to go.

After all…it wasnt JC’s fault that, Celtic were short of cash in those days….McCann did that himself coz, he chased the rebels out of Celtic Park.

JC is the type of boot up the #rse that conceited KC needs and, KC hunlike behaviour should see him getting his contract ripped up and freed in the next transfer window and get Ryan Christie back to CP.

As for Ronny….how loud was the Ronny Roar last night.

A Celtic manager who, does a lap of honour for shooting fish in a barrell in the SPFL and then, bolts up the tunnel when his charges get their erses kicked on the pitch….is a puppet who is owned by PL.

  5. PFayr,

Bhoyata made the lose pass which sparked the attack

Efe got into position to protect the goal, CG let the ball go in at the near post, I don’t see how Efe was to blame for that, he was where he was supposed to be.

  6. The first goal was a good example of the entire team set up being to blame.

Boyata hit a terrible pass, but because everyone was so high up the pitch they were able to hit us quickly. Efe was stranded and Gordon made a lamentable attempt to save it.

It was the kind of goal a Sunday pub team would be embarassed to lose.

  7. PF/ Italiabhoy/Canamalar

All extremely worrying, because the further they allow this to slide, getting out of the gradual but obvious decline will become harder. There’s not a lot more the support can do. The faithful through and through bhoys have, and continue to give their last as they wait for what many will see as the good times that are historically cyclical in the football world.

What’s evident though is that the cycle is being broken. From the top of European football decades ago, to the top 16 table on the odd occasion, to qualifying to the group stages even more infrequently, to the Europa league as an annual consolation. It’s staring us in the face that soon it’ll be regarded as some level of success if we just make the Europa league.

The economics of the game, and where Celtic are positioned geographically have undoubtedly seen CL last 16 as a formidable target, but cannot in ANY way be blamed for the depths to which we are falling.

Look at the teams who are outperforming us now? They are a fraction of the size of club that Celtic are, but have teams who are outplaying us on a scarily increasing number of occasions.

We need visionary people to come into the club, people who recognise that Celtic is first and foremost a football club and that the business strategy needs to be structured to support that ethos, as opposed to the books being balanced at the expense of the playing side.

The sad thing is, that in my opinion, it wouldn’t take that much ( relative to our potential) to get things back on an upward curve.

  8. Good morning CQN

What a dreadful day yesterday was, most importantly us North Britons were relegated by the Tories to third class British, never mind Police Scotland’s finest deciding if you have been guilty of offensive behavior at a fitba game which is offensive in itself, our elected representatives will now have to wait to see if the speaker of the house of commons decides they are permitted to vote, is there any democracy in western Europe treating a region within their countries border as undemocratic and with contempt on this scale………………….the mother of all parliaments……………………better together ? laughable contemptible nonsense

That was a heart-braking performance last night for all the supporters of Celtic, never more so than for the 1000 real fans who made the journey to Norway, thanks for supporting the team you deserve better

We have a system which has been fatally flawed in European football defensively from day 1 in Ronny Delia’s Celtic managerial career, both full backs high up the pitch, big gap between central defenders one of whom makes an all to regular passing mistake and we are left wide open and vulnerable, our defending is a joke, no discipline, no man marking, giving opposition players time and space in the last third of the pitch is fatal, we are unable to stop crosses coming in from wide areas, we are not picking up runners coming into our penalty box particularly the back post runners…………………it just isnt good enough

We spent considerable sums in the summer transfer window

    Ciftci……………….1.5 mill

    Boyata……………1.5 mill

    Simunovic……….3 mill

    Allan……………….300 grand

Janko and Blackett on loan at a cost of loan fees and wages

Spending millions on the above and one only one of them started the match ?

I will be in attendance on Sunday will visit the family section of CQN corner before the match, club needs change in the running of the football team starting at the top

  9. Canamalar

Im with you on this. Efe was not responsible for the first goal.

Why cannt people trust their own eyes rather than the agenda that Sutton has about one of our players.

If McCann had said half the things about Efe and Izzy that Sutton did then this place would have went into meltdown.

  10. Good morning friends and a not so Happy Friday from a bleak looking EK – and that’s before I open the blinds!

It was the complete lack of urgency wot did it for me.

Feels like a watershed moment for me…

  11. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Canamalar

Efe didn’t get into possession to defend the goal ….that’s the point

Btw …the others were culpable too

  12. Clink

Boyata’s dreadful attempted pass when we were on the front foot led to the goal. I do think though that Efe and Izzy didn’t cover themselves in glory thereafter. CG also seemed wrong footed by the shot.

On Chris Sutton, I think he’s as frustrated as the rest of us with Efe’s defensive ineptitude, but it’s simply another indication of where we are that we have little or no alteratives. Defensively we are rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic.

Ronnie hasn’t got the smarts and is being out thought tactically on a regular basis, and his substitution of Kris Commons last night was a strange one, but some will say he is playing with the cards Peter Lawell has dealt him. He is however playing them badly.

Sack the card player, but at the same time sack the dealer.

    Cowiebhoy

You as a manager would discipline KC but you have to remember that in employment law there is such a thing as dignity at work and by publicly embarrassing KC he can therefore claim that his manager embarrassed and undermined him in front of workmates and the public

To all you managers employee relations work both ways or do you agree with the Tory government policy re the unions

  14. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

    Good bye

  15. PF..,

Disagree, Efe was stuck in no mans land when the ball was passed to the scorer, he made up a load of ground to get between the scorer and the goal to limit the size of the target, there was too much ground to make up to get a tackle in so what else was he to do ?

  16. I thought we should have played cautiously like we did vs. Qarabag away from home and try to nick a goal. We should have learned from that; even those 2-0 leads we lost vs. Ajax and Fenerbahce; we should have settled down.

Teams know we will try and use the possession game and press high up but all they have to do is be patient and disciplined, pack the defence and look for any errors and make quick breaks.

The pitch may be an excuse but see how many passes Molde needed to get upfield and threaten us.

  17. There were so many culprits last night.

For the first goal Efe was left potentially covering 2 as Izzie was so far upfield. In the end he covered neither.

For the 2nd Izzie actually looks over his shoulder, sees the guy behind him unmarked and still doesn’t move towards him!

For the 3rd the normally dependable but too often not playing lustig would have been better not playing.

Gordon poor at 1 and 3

Boyatta sets it all rolling with a woeful pass.

Bitton spends all night dancing out of the way of making a challenge!

    You’re entitled to your opinion

WGS thought Efe was culpable as did Stan

  19. Totally scunnered and embarrassed by that capitulation last night,no leaders on or off the park, pedestrian boring one dimensional football.Ronnie looks more like Mowbray every day.

I’m afraid my mind is made up,he is not good enough and I believe based upon the opinions of tims in the pub last night that the majority of tims now think that also.Really sorry that its come to this but he has to go and bring in a decent European manager who can actually get something out of the squad that we have.

  20. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Lionroars

Very good summation of our woeful defending

    Sunday pub league stuff

  21. Just watched it again on YouTube, Efe closes down a lot of space limiting the target to CGs near post, not much more he could have done in my expert opinion

  22. My friends in Celtic,

Extremely dissapointed in another all too familiar story.

I think that PFayr supports WeeOscar on 23rd October 2015 6:59 am summary is sadly correct.

I am now absolutely convinced that Scottish football does not equip us for playing at any level outwith Scotland. This is by no means making excuses for another inept performance, IMO its just how it is. Our ownership is not the issue. As many have pointed out we have a bigger budget and pay more to our players than some of our European competitors.

    HH.

PS : If Celtic showed a fraction of the ingenuity and effort of some of their fans to watch the game it would be a start.

  23. mullet and co 2 on

I thought it was obvious Efe should have moved 5 yards to the left when it was obvious that was were the ball was going. Blaming izy for being out of position is hardly fair given the horrific pass again from Boyata. Mind you the goal was a good illustration of our problems. Team too far up the park with those distributing the ball really bad at it. Possession goes to opposition with loads of room to attack.

Most folk seem to want a change of manager. I expect us to appoint Henrik before the close of the winter transfer window. Deila can’t or won’t change it. He has had umpteen European games and the evidence is clear.

  24. I thought our play improved when KC went off. Would it have improved even more if it was a different player that got subbed? Nobody knows. He lost the ball enough in the 1st half to not be absolved from blame for the position we found ourselves in.

He took his goal well but it’s worth remembering that it was the worst mistake in the game that led to it and not his own play.

RD still hasn’t learned how to play against good teams that play defensively. His tactics are fine against teams that play more openly. Try to remember that individual errors cost us winning positions against Ajax and Fenerbahce.

If (unlikely as it seems) we go through, will we see people come back and accept last night was a blip in an otherwise reasonable EL group performance? Doubt it.

  25. Anybody who has ever played football, would realise how unacceptable that performance was last night.

We totally chucked it after the first goal…..players scared to death, under pressure every time we had the ball….it spread right through the team.

    It was terrible to watch.

Craig Gordon…..something not right there….from one extreme to another….head goes down right away.

Scott Brown…not good enough when it mattered….yet again

    Boyata…..Cant concentrate

Johansen….I just don’t get what he is all about.

Pathetic performance from a group of extremely well paid players.

RD….is clueless, he should be sacked.

PL… is a disgrace…he is responsible for Celtic being a laughing stock in Europe.

Makes me sick to see a Celtic team play like that.

Yet….it goes on, and nothing is done about it.

What does it take for things to change.

We are Celtic, but our whole being, is being eroded by people who don’t love the club.

We are on the way down….in a tailspin.

    Sad.

    Hail hail

  27. Lionroars67

Bang on. Individual errors compound the real issue, a system which leaves us woefully exposed and ultimately destined to fail in Europe.

  28. At all the goals lost. Could each of the defenders got close enough to each of the attackers to at least bundle them over .

Sutton was and probably still is a better centre back than what’s been on show this season.

  29. Mullet…,

You might as well have said Efe should have made a tackle on the scorer if you think he’s as fast as you imply, when the hell was he getting the time to move five yards in any direction when the misplaced pass was made.

    Watch it again ghuys

  30. Phyllis Dietrichson on

Canalmar – I’m with you – no way was Efe to blame for the first goal. He’s just too convenient a scapegoat though – he would be blamed if he wasn’t playing.

In my opinion the team was wrong from the start – we played three number 10s behind the striker and that’s never going to work.

  31. CultsBhoy likes living wage hates heated driveways on

With exception of Brown , Griffiths and Commons, this Celtic team is full of players who only play well when the team is on top and winning. The 3 exceptions all had poor games last night but they at least hold the potential to take a lead and change games.

I suspect that was what Commons was thinking when he flipped his lid. It is significant I suspect that he directed his anger at Collins who is undoubtedly disliked by the players as well as the fans.

Ronnie on the other hand seems like a nice straight forward guy. I suspect he is liked by both players and fans. The problem is he isn’t rated by either. The evidence is now clear that he is currently out of his depth. He asked to be judged on his performance in Europe this year. He has 3 games to get it right. I’m not hopeful.

If the decision is taken to change the management team is forced by the growing disaffection of the support, Lawwell must carry the can for his cheap appointment and consequential loss of income and lack of results in Europe.
