MONCHENGLADBACH MAULED BY BAYERN

CELTIC’S midweek Champions League conquerors Borussia Monchengladbach were brought back to earth as they were dumped 2-0 by Bayern Munich in their Bundesliga clash.

They were on the back foot right from the start and Arturo Vidal powered home a header from Rafinha’s cross after only 16 minutes.

Just 15 minutes later, Douglas Costa celebrated his first start of the season by taking David Alaba’s cross on his chest and firing the ball inside the left-hand post.

Bizarrely, the Brazilian ace ran over to two Bayern Munich fans, posed and took a selfie with them.

It was all Bayern with Monchengladbach, who put in a lot of effort in their 2-0 triumph in Glasgow, offering next to nothing in attack. But for an early shot over the bar on a counter-attack from Fabian Johnson, every other effort in the first-half came from the home side.

Bayern were able to conserve energy after the interval, but got a scare when Andre Hahn, who scored his side’s second goal against Craig Gordon, struck the post.

Brendan Rodgers’ men take on Monchengladbach in their return in Germany on November 1.
