Let’s be honest with each other, there’s a bit of a leap between our European performances in recent seasons and the standards of Champions League football. My expectations for this season’s tournament hasn’t seen me check out accommodation options in Cardiff in May.
With that in mind, if we’re going to fall short, let’s do it against genuine quality opposition, some of the best players and tactically organised teams in the business. Barcelona, Manchester City (think Pep, but with more money) and Borussia Monchengladbach will bring this to Glasgow over the next few months.
Over our 15 year Champions League lifespan, Celtic surprise on the upside more often against better teams than against relative minnows. The biggest disappointments came in Scandinavia, not Iberia.
When the group stage finishes in December, we will faced enormous challenges. Players will have stretched themselves to lengths they didn’t know existed. What we know for sure, is that none of the other three teams in our group will have wanted Celtic from Pot 4. This is a hard draw for everyone.
Huge game tomorrow. Anything less than 100% and we’ll drop points. Enjoy it.

Hopefully it will dawn on everyone in Scottish football that the main event domestically now is Celtic v Aberdeen and possibly Celtic v Hearts.
Tomorrow is domestically a huge game for us.
There may be some Celtic supporters who haven’t realised that yet. But they will.

I’d say going forward that Hearts are the real challengers. They have an exciting forward line that will hurt teams.
Celtic winning there must have really deflated the SFA.

You will need to be a season ticket holder to get tickets off Celtic. We will get a big allocation. Other option is to go into Barca end, again there will be lots available.

Too easy too blame Ronny for Stef J or any others, sometimes even at bhoys guild level dressing rooms get rid of managers but like Brendan I will thank Ronny for getting us 2 titles and also wish him every success, what’s done is done what’s won is won and what’s lost is lost and gone forever, Brendan has the WOW factor and players and fans are buying into it, PLUS Brendan is getting players in he knows Toure & Sinclair have settled as if they were meant to be here’ me personally Craig Gordon is still number 1 and will start tomorrow, far too many fans jumping down Craig’s throat in my opinion, if Brendan fancied big Doris so much why wait until Logan Bailly was injured, Craig Gordon is and will be in the future a great Celtic goalkeeper……good times ahead, although being a Celtic fan is always good enough :-)

Looking back on last season those supporters who stayed away had a bigger influence than those of us who went to the games. We would never have got Brendan as our manager and the millions to spend if it hadn’t been for those empty seats. Hh

Mark67, the best advice I could give you based on my visit when we played them in 2013 is don’t buy tickets for the away section. Buy a ticket from the Barca shop or pick up a ticket from a Barca fan and get in with the their support, take a big Celtic flag and have a great time close to the pitch. Get your pictures taken with likeminded Spanish supporters who get what our club is about.
Oh, and don’t take Oldtim with you, he’s a terrible terrible influence.
Suppose only worry is the stickies go out and sign a decent centre half. The prospect of facing any of Hill, Senderos, Wilson and Kiernan is mouthwatering.

Looks like it was a plan to gain some kind of momentum but its already going horribly wrong for them.
Reminds me of an old motor that i had.
An Escort and it looked ok as such(imo)but it was only a 1.4. It was ok about town, but when i went on the motorway(especially that wee stretch uphill from Castlecary towards Cumbernauld id pull out with the best of intentions to overtake but would find that there was nothing there……absolutely nae oooomph……and id drive along beside what i was trying to overtake for what seemed like an eternity with the foot to the floor and the heed stuck over the top of the steering wheel almost squashed against the windscreen in a supreme effort to will my wee baby on, before needing to drop back in behind it again because she just didnae have the guts and the ones that did would go flying past.
We are gonna go flyin past them tomorrow despite them being shiny and new……welcome to the fast lane Sevco 1.4 :)

The concept of staying away doesn’t appeal or sit well with me but it’s well established that it’s the primary trigger for a change of Manager.
Gerry , over the past 19 years, our Norwegian contingent , Harald Brattbakk , Vidar Riseth , Jo inge Berget and oor Ronnie , have not fared as well as we would have hoped.
Vidar Riseth played some good games in the centre of our defence , Harald will be forever remebered for that goal against St Johnstone but wasn’t as deadly in front of goal in games as he was in training, Jo inge Berget did not impress but later haunted us and Ronnie’s tenure did not turn out as well as we wanted it to, despite league and cup success.
Stefan was great for us for one season , then last season , whether a dip of form was caused by not being fully fiit or possibly some off the pitch matters, his popularity among our support , decreased.
Our other Scandanavian players from Denmark and Sweden have made a bigger impcat.
I have nothing against Norwegians by the way . Its late at night, I’m cream crackered and if any other posters think the above is a pile of mince , they are probably right.

Arguably our best result last season was losing to sevco. They went on to the Scottish cup final believing they would win the cup and qualify for Europe only to be humped in the final majestically by the Hibees, and their fans took part in the worst on field disturbance since the last one they caused. And we got rid of Ronny. All good.

I was expecting some kind of evidence-based rationale as to the raison d’etre of the Truss – what I get is your personal view with a few anecdotes thrown in.
Well I too have a personal view – why is mine designed to “sow discord” and your’s is not – the only people to go out of their way to create division between the club and fans are you and your Truss cronies – it’s all record for all to see.
I visit the Truss site and therefore I am well aware of the what it really is about.
They are full of pompousity and want their own way,no matter what and decided that Celtic FC is a convenient and suitable vehicle.
Tell me – exactly what was the Truss’s part in the flag demonstration and subsequent charity cover-up?
Why could the demonstration not be held outside the ground? With access to social media and with everyone carrying a camera, a longer and more informative gathering could have been broadcast?
But no, it had to be done by this small minority inside the ground knowing fully that Celtic would be charged and punished and thus raise the level of publicity – what kind of supporters would do that? – faithful through and through? – aye to themselves and their political beliefs that they have the cheek to force on everyone else in the stadium.
The GB/TRUSS didn’t give a damn about the consequences to Celtic, rather their only concern was to use Celtic Park as a political platform regardless of the cost to the club.
Who thought up the Just Give wheeze – from where I stand it has the fingerprints of the Truss all over it.
There are two sides to every story – you’d have me shut down for telling the opposite one from you – what does that say about you and your GB/Truss cronies.
What I say will never hurt Celtic FC – what YOU do and say on behalf of these sub-groups is designed to do exactly that.
