CELTIC received a Champions League boost after Rosenborg announced one of their key players, Tore Reginiussen, had lost his fitness battle to face the Hoops on Wednesday.

Brendan Rodgers ‘ side travel to Norway for the second leg of the third qualifying round in Trondheim after last week’s goalless draw at Parkhead.

The experienced Norwegian international defender has failed to recover from a thigh injury sustained in Glasgow.

Rosenborg physio Christian Thorbjornsen said: “He won’t be out for too long, but the game on Wednesday has come too fast for Tore.”

However, Rosenborg may be able to call on another Norway international, winger Pal Andre Helland, who has been out for three weeks.

Thorbjornsen added: “He is in good shape physically and could be ready to play against Celtic.”
