ON-LOAN O’CONNELL SEES RED

1
ON-LOAN Celt Eoghan O’Connell saw red on his comeback for Walsall at the weekend.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 centre-half was ordered off in his side’s 1-0 defeat from a Coventry City outfit already relegated from League One.
O’Connell, who missed the previous three games through injury, was dismissed for picking up a second yellow card after a foul on goalscorer George Thomas in the 70th minute.
It just wasn’t the Hoops youngster’s day – he also had a goalbound header knocked off the line by Gael Bigirimana with the game still goalless.
O’Connell will miss the Saddlers’ home game against relegation-threatened Port Vale tomorrow night.
The defender, who made seven first team appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ men at the start of the season, is out of contract at the end of the campaign.
He has yet to discuss an extension of his deal with the champions.
