‘OUTSTANDING RESULT,’ SAYS RODGERS AFTER FIRHILL WIN

BRENDAN RODGERS declared himself satisfied after Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

Two goals from Stuart Armstrong and one apiece from Leigh Griffiths – his tenth of the season – and Callum McGregor pushed the champions 11 points clear of their nearest rivals with two games in hand.

The Hoops boss said: “This was an outstanding result for us. I don’t think Partick Thistle had conceded more than two goals in a game before this evening.

“The first-half was in fits and starts, but we got a good goal and changed a couple of things at half-time to help us in the build-up.

“I can see the development: the relationship between the training and the games.

“We’ve got goals in the team and we’re aggressive when we attack.

“The team’s maturing, staying composed and calm under pressure.”

Celtic are in Premiership action again on Tuesday when they take on Hamilton Accies at Parkhead.
