Celtic blew Partick Thistle away this evening with a virtuoso performance, which really needed to be seen to be appreciated. They passed perfectly on the Partick pitch and should have been ahead before Leigh Griffiths got the party going with an 18th minute penalty.
By that time, Emilio Izaguirre hit the post and Tomas Cerny made a fine save from Patrick Roberts. Thistle defender Callum Booth tried to stop Roberts but mistimed his tackle to concede the penalty.
Griffiths was on fire in the first half and beat three players inside the box before crossing for Tom Rogic, who lunged to make a slight contact on the ball, but it was enough to knock it against the inside of the post. Firhill held its collective breath as the ball ran along the line before turning inside the net at the opposite post.
Leigh then setup Callum McGregor but Cerny saved again. Thistle were struggling to get onto the ball but Lindsey should have done better with a header from an Erskine cross but the ball landed in Craig Gordon’s arms.
Goal of the night game three minutes before the break. James Forrest cutback for Roberts, who fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
Thistle probably thought they were passed the worst but Callum McGregor got his customary goal on 82 minutes when his shot from the edge of the box hit the underside of the crossbar, bounced half a meter over the line and out, but the assistant referee correctly indicated the goal.
Tom Rogic was clean through with the keeper to beat twice late in the game, but substitute Thistle goalie, Ridgers. Tom couldn’t get enough on his header but the Thistle defence gave possession to Patrick Roberts on a plate. The England Youth international jinked before curling a memorable goal beyond the despairing keeper.

I had the pleasure of FourGreenField’s company at tonight’s game. When the pyro went off I mentioned to him that someone would have soiled knickers on CQN about it! :-)

I take you have never kissed a Hun so !!!
HT,
It’s a bloody disgrace :)
I even heard singing I didn’t like, that’s a bloody disgrace too.
I mean what’s our support coming to, it’s like they are going out of their way to upset people who don’t like us, if we don’t appease these people they will always find an excuse not to like us and it will all be our fault
Canamalar
I suggest you write a strongly worded letter to The Times of London about the singing tonight
Corbyn In
A hungry striker disappointed to come off is a positive , there were no negatives tonight , none … so roll on midnight to watch the replay on Celtic t.v. In my opinion Brendan and Paddy both know exactly what is going to happen next , they just cant say anything till the time is right , no evidence just my gut feeling , just like my first scorer prediction …….. rpmcelticfan on 18th May 2017 6:54 pm

All the Paddy love in here tonight, while is justified, my cupid is firing his arrow to Calum MacGregor who once again was utterly fantastic. He scuttles round the pitch recycling the ball like one of those European players that every half decent European team, and even some not so decent European teams, seem to have.
His start in the cup final is assured.
Ooft thanks wits……
Thats the way i feel we are always up against it….

FGF’s son was beside me, he bounced, jumped, sang and loved every second of tonight. I’m watching the game again and simply marvel at the exuberance, resilience and fun of our supporters.

WITS,
Got to laugh at the Corbyn in bit, thanks
The last time torys were laughing at that joke they got what they wanted and choked on it.
I enjoyed the panic and back tracking when they realised he was considered a serious option to new labour/old tory. The meeja still haven’t got over it, the panic is palpable. Best bit is they are using the same condescending drivel that brought about his leadership victory.
Canamalar
I listened to him being interviewed by Jeremy Vine today
Came across very well
He is a decent man
May not win,but hopefully he can win back the soul of the labour party
Always keep a pike in the thatch

In all my years watching Celtic I honestly don’t remember a time when I wanted the season to continue like I do with this one.
Phenomenal Celtic, thank you.
A special mention to the Bhoys Ultras group for their brilliant display.
Also to wee McGregor who I thought was fantastic tonight.
==================================
Yup, an incredible season I haven’t enjoyed more since 2001/1998. Expectations exceeded.
Brilliant display and support tonight; made the game.
Calum; jeez, any one of those 2 first half sitters allied to the second half strike and Lisboa was paid for (a score on him to score both halves @ 40/1).
I’ll abstain there… ;))

A great Irish songwriter

quite brilliant, with the croppies narrative
Uploaded on Apr 9, 2008
Finally on youtube. Regarded by many to be the best version of the late great Tommy Makem’s signature song. This recording was played at the Tommy Makem memorial concerts at the Irish festivals summer 2007, shortly after Tommy died on August 1, 2007. The poem at the beginning is “Requiem for the Croppies.” Feb 6, 1983, At the National Concert Hall, video companion to the album of the same name.

Re: Sparky…
Leigh, you’re assured a place in Celtic folklore. You’re (were) assured a place on Sunday, and in the cup final.
So shut the fuck up when the manger deicdes to rest you/throw on someone to stretch their legs in a game where we’re 3 up and you’ve bagged one of them.
It goes beyond enthusiasm to play and is perceived as petulance.
You know the score; BR’s ego rules. you’v efought back from isolation to become a fulcrum again; the fans love you, the players love you, so just… Be Cool. You;
Be. Cool.
