While captain Scott Brown will return to first team action this week, with the league encounter with Aberdeen out of the way, Brendan Rodgers will almost certainly continue to rest players ahead of the teams next meeting in the Scottish Cup Final.
Getting it right for Hampden is only one aspect the manager will be concerned about. Celtic’s first Champions League qualification round starts eight weeks tomorrow, between now and then the entire squad has to get their annual rest period and a significant portion of preseason. Several will also be on international duty four weeks from now.
While you and I want to see out the league programme undefeated, it is more important players are rested for the various cup finals which take place between now and the end of August. The Partick Thistle game on Thursday doesn’t register on what is important.
Celtic FC Foundation
Six days from now, while you are watching Celtic skelp Hearts, I’ll be running my first marathon, in aid of the Celtic Foundation. I’m now in mild panic about what lies ahead, but on this Anniversary month, it’s important that we pay more than lip service to what being a Celtic supporter is all about.
If you are able to, please support the Foundation here. If you are unable to, perhaps you know the Hail Mary…….
Thank you for the unbelievable support I’ve received so far. There will be a time on Sunday when it will fuel the legs.

Possibly, he is human, I tried to cross check with the BBC but they have stopped reporting and I can’t find the other feed I had.
But from what James Doleman wrote… it just hangs with no apparent meaning.

Eh? Going unbeaten would be an unbelievable achievement. The Manager and the players will and should be going all out to achieve that. Both remaining League fixtures are hugely important.

He stated that many English people ( if they could) would vote for Scotland to be independent from England ?…..and you know what….he may have a point ?

Armstrong is an international class player with potential to be better.
As the mssm continue their relentless pursuit of sell a Celt speculation is rife.
It would be understandable for Armstrong to move if he is offered the kind of money that would set him up for life.
West From is not the place. He is far to good for a mediocre epl l team.
I hope we keep him but if this is not possible i would love to see him at a top European side were his talent blossoms.

Don’t know how it is or maybe it’s just the cynic in me but I am convinced Whyte will be convicted.

Same player, SA…was dire, until Brendan obviously had a word.
If i was SA, i wouldnt try to run before i can walk.
IMO….He can blow hot and cold, he hasnt proved himself. Lets see if he can keep it up.
Bit early to be wanting huge transfers.
I dont think we would miss him too much.
Lets see.

We have circa 9 more weeks of this.
Oh what a wicked web we weave when first we practice to deceive….
With respect to the MSM putting our players ‘up for sale’ it would be foolish not to accept the wages that some players could earn in englanshire would not be tempting no matter how much they enjoyed playing for us.
Get stretch signed up now
I’m looking for a spare for Sunday if anyone can oblige. I’ll check back later.

THE GREEN MAN
I agree in the difference Brendan has made to Stuart.
And hope we get the benefit of many more years from him.
In the modern game though we are a hostage to our circumstances.
Stuart has a footballing brain which is not always there with physically talented players.
His ability to pass and move is exactly the requirement of modern players.
He will thrive in the right environment.
Brendan has provided him with one and i also believe the European stage will see the best of him.
I don’t want him to be transferred but if it happens i think he is worth a lot of money.
Fan-a-tic
We are unable to match the wages that even the dross of the epl pay.

I will be surprised if SA leaves, if he does, good luck to him.
Imo, We wouldnt really miss him.
One good season doesnt make you a superstar, im sure Stuart is aware of that.
Id say he has a bit to go yet to become the finished article.

The Telegraph 2012 R. Forsyth
“I am very disappointed that Gordon, a good Rangers man, with his experience, will no longer be working at Rangers and I wish Ali every success for the future but it could have been avoided,” said Ellis.
“I believe that if a sensible deal could have been done with HMRC there was no need for the club to go into administration.”
Ellis, a former board member of QPR and who once led a takeover of Northampton Town, said that he had known nothing of Whyte’s use of £24.4 million advanced against season ticket sales to finance his purchase. “I was totally unaware of the Ticketus situation and when I asked Craig about it he denied it,” he said.
“Like all the Rangers fans I feel duped but not only about that. Craig and I shook hands on a deal that would see me getting 24.9 per cent of the shares after his takeover.
“I was to have a contract to come up to Scotland and run the club and my team were going to be Ali Russell and Gordon Smith.
“After Craig took over he didn’t want to honour our agreement and I had to chase him around for months. He has been trying agree a new deal with my shareholding much less but that still has not been completed and I have now handed my files over to my solicitor.
“I joined the board because I was interested in the challenge and opportunity of getting such a huge club back on track. Rangers is one of the biggest clubs in the world but I think the marketing of the club over the last 10 years has been appalling.
“I wanted to sort out the academy, but also try to break into the overseas market and take Rangers abroad.”
He added: “I am not stepping down until I find out the full situation with the administrators. I am taking legal instruction as what to do next.”
Meanwhile, Murray has assured The Daily Telegraph “categorically” that he did not tell Whyte that Ticketus could be used to bridge a funding gap, as was suggested in these pages yesterday, although Rangers had used the facility while Murray was in charge.
