While captain Scott Brown will return to first team action this week, with the league encounter with Aberdeen out of the way, Brendan Rodgers will almost certainly continue to rest players ahead of the teams next meeting in the Scottish Cup Final.
Getting it right for Hampden is only one aspect the manager will be concerned about. Celtic’s first Champions League qualification round starts eight weeks tomorrow, between now and then the entire squad has to get their annual rest period and a significant portion of preseason. Several will also be on international duty four weeks from now.
While you and I want to see out the league programme undefeated, it is more important players are rested for the various cup finals which take place between now and the end of August. The Partick Thistle game on Thursday doesn’t register on what is important.
Celtic FC Foundation
Six days from now, while you are watching Celtic skelp Hearts, I’ll be running my first marathon, in aid of the Celtic Foundation. I’m now in mild panic about what lies ahead, but on this Anniversary month, it’s important that we pay more than lip service to what being a Celtic supporter is all about.
If you are able to, please support the Foundation here. If you are unable to, perhaps you know the Hail Mary…….
Thank you for the unbelievable support I’ve received so far. There will be a time on Sunday when it will fuel the legs.

You MUST be at the feckin wind up Reggie….is your surname Logan ?
The question is………does the Devils Advocate eat croissants?
re: Logan
Everyone knew what Logan was up to, especially when he went over to do his stupid little dance right in front of the Celtic support. Was Logan hoping to receive certain gestures from our Support similar to what Scott Sinclair got at Ibrox? you can put your house on that he was, and then cry foul. I am glad our support knew what he was up to and didn’t give him the headlines or the attention he was obviously craving for.
Over three years on, it still irks me that a Celtic player will go down in history as been branded a racist by our National Association only on the basis of “probability” with no evidence or witness , just on the very unreliable word of Shay Logan. I hope we pump them in the Cup Final
Just heard LambosFrontTeeth passed away recently and was buried on Friday. I know Brian was friendly with many of us. His camaraderie and company will be missed.
RIP Brian and may perpetual light shine upon you

Ultimately we will never know what or what not was said. And / or if the meaning was lost in translation.
But Celtic issued statements saying they fully backed Tonev. Pity, as many of us wanted ,they didn’t go the full distance with the SFA.
A 7 match ban for probability. Is it any wonder that Logan was trying to bait players . And supporters too.
With Celtic issuing a strong defence of Tonev , presumably the rest of the Celtic players agreed.
The question is then :- Were Celtic complicit in defending a racist act. It is that serious. I felt our reputation was being challenged.
No , to reiterate if we were fully convinced of Tonev’s innocence we should never have accepted the punishment without a fight using every means at our disposal.

Did Lennie or Scott Brown ever bounce the ball off the back of the head of an opponent?
If they had, what do you think the MSM and SFA would have done?
Logan is a prick!
========
He may well be but that doesn’t mean he made up false allegations of racial abuse. Bouncing a ball of a player’s head is not the smartest thing in the world to do. If he had been booked or even sent off it would have been harsh but he could have no complaints. That said I’m pretty sure Griffiths will make a full recovery. I’m also sure that Lenny and Brown, being the combatant personalities that they are, will have committed worse ‘offences’ that I will have completely dismissed as irrelevant as well. It’s healthy to have a bit of objectivity, and a bit of perspective. Our players are not beyond reproach, so I try to think about that when flashpoints with the opposition occur.

Exact same. The only way to get rid of this annoying ” intrusion ” is to disable JavaScript.

The kangaroo court that convicted Tonev should have been challenged by Celtic.
They should have continued to fight for justice on his behalf.
Not surprised they gave up the player but strange they allowed the stigma of racism attached to the club.

Thanks for the reply Jimmy. Is that the official ” meet before Lisbon ” night?
I hope you pass your fitness test :)

Rip Brian god bless
We will see this midweek how hard the sheep will try against the Govan mob, I think they will lose by two at least, they know they cannot tackle and compete against them as they do us.
Blantyretim, thank you. Much appreciated :-)
BT – I trust you are well young fella? I met P. McG a few weeks ago at the Celtic Club, he’s still working down in Kentucky doing his health and safety stuff; “money for old rope” says he.
looking forward to seeing you in Lisbon.

Looking forward to it Tony
Reggie is some piece of work eh,
Every bodies fault but the perpetrator, drag in Tonev, drag in Lenny, drag in Broonie all to justify why a cheating lying scumbag should not be judged too harshly, imbecile
If Alexsander Tonev had been a Celtic player (by that I mean our own player and not on Loan) Would Celtic have put up a more rigid defence? absolutely..
I just felt at that time that Celtic viewed him as “only” a loan player and not worth defending, which is shameful if it were true
REGGIE ( LOGANS LOGIC ?)
Going by your “logic” Reggie allow me to show some major problems with your “Logic”.
A Celtic player ( lets say someone like Wee Jinky, Peter Grant, Paul MacStay ) Bhoys who were well known Celtic supporters before becoming Celtic players etc, are ACCUSED by a Hun player during a match of calling the Hun player something like a ” Dirty Orange Hun Bassa etc etc” ?
According to your “Logic re Logan/Tonev”, the Celtic player in question ( The Accused) MUST be Guilty simply because not only is he a Celtic player, but he has supported Celtic since a wee Bhoy, so therefore, cos of that association with Celtic……according to your Logic….”On the balance of probabilities”, the accused celtic player…MUST have said it, and therefore the Cheatin Hun Orange Bassa is telling the truth ??
Another flaw in your “Logic”….what if the accused Celtic player was NOT Catholic and supported THEM as a wee boy,, and his Hun accuser is a foreigner who knows nothing about the Celtic players background from when he was a wee laddie ?
just pointing out some flaws in your logic reggie.

Reggie in your opinion if this situation was reversed would the Aberdeen player be given a 7 match ban ? By the way I think its healthy to have a difference of opinion , its what blogs are for :-)
Here comes Rudi…

I’ve had the same problem all day and most of yesterday. Thought it was part of the outage problem- then put it down to problem at Kraków airport and rubbish wi-for there ( the only thing rubbish about Kraków, mind you) but problem has persisted all day on iPhone and iPad all day and, as you say, only on Cqn. Now on Bing and this might work till I try to re-open. Been very frustrating catching up with Lisbon Quick News then losing it all. Changing servers all the time is a right pain- but not as big a pain as Logan.
RIP LambosFrontTeeth.
Thoughts and prayers with your family and friends.

The thing is Logan has now shown how sleekit a character he can be. No ifs, no maybes. No probablies.
FAN-A-TIC on 15TH MAY 2017 4:33 PM
His subsequent behavior since the incident has reaffirmed my belief.
============
What subsequent behaviour? This?
“Remembering the profile of him being an upstanding citizen of perfect character taking a hit when a few weeks later he was sent off and launched into a foul and abusive rant.”
So if you’re not an upstanding citizen of perfect character then everything you say should be treated as a lie? Griffiths gave the the linesman a volley of foul mouthed abuse after being (correctly) given offside on Friday night. Armstrong gave the referee a volley of foul mouthed abuse after being (incorrectly) given a foul against him on Friday night. Does that diminish their character in your eyes? I mean Jesus wept, 99% of players at every club will have launched into a foul abusive rant at an official at some point. You’d think our players run around with halos on the way some are talking.
Torontony,
BRTH has, in the last half hour or so, mailed out the food and drinks menu.
We’re going to need a bigger shirt….. :-)
RIP Brian – LambosFrontTeeth.
Was a great witty nick.

Last Friday night we witnessed Shay Logan try to incite the Celtic Support
—————–
This is one of the most bizarre posts I have read in a long while! Still, you exceeded this one with the comparison to false rape; now that’s a quantum leap!
He didn’t do anything that I haven’t seen Scott Brown or Lenny or a number of other Celtic players do before. If it’s one of us, it’s laughed off, as it should be. Football supporters in general can give it out but can’t take it.
So tell me the last time any Celtic player hit another player with a ball (or any other object) and got away with it? I can’t in over 50 years watching them. I also seem to recall Scott Brown being booked for kidding on he was going to throw the ball at Ferguson.
Now Tonev should never have been charged by the SFA, as you say it was one man’s word against another, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. I tend to believe Logan, as I would believe Sinclair in similar circumstances, people don’t tend to make up these accusations.
And you are basing this sweeping assumption on what? Shay Logan is black? If not that, on what?
On the balance of probabilities I think he probably did racially abuse him, but that shouldn’t be enough for a conviction. The subsequent booing of Logan since the Tonev incident is at best distasteful. I wouldn’t be surprised if he harbours a grudge. Perfectly understandable imo.So you write of Tonev and slur his personal and professional integrity because someone said something? Unbelievable! Totally unbelievable! Understandable that he bears a grudge because he got a fellow professional punished on no evidence whatsoever? I’m glad you ain’t in a position of real power! “I think he may have done it so let’s jail him!”
The most disappointing thing on Friday night was that BT felt the need to turn down the audio of the songs coming from our support on at least 2 occasions. I didn’t hear any change in the volume; what time of the game did this happen? In the world’s eyes we are as bad as the huns.Hmm; there’s a thought! We sing songs that people may not like but aren’t sectarian, racists or illegal and you think the world views us the same as the huns? I wonder how many cities that we have visited share your view? Care to name one? That’s utterly humiliating. The day will come when Brendan Rodgers is asked about these songs and tasked with speaking out against them. That will be a sad day, and the humiliation will be complete. Now that’s just bollocks! Humiliation? Nah, it ain’t gonna happen!
