As a yoof I was chibbed 3 times while wearing my cream Levi sta prest’s, fairly certain it wasnt because of my stylist clobber and more for my wallet :O)
Ive been reading back about the singing. Someone suggested that The Freemen (one of whom I know well) inserted Belfast instead of Galwayin the chorus of “On he one Road.” Totally untrue. In the 1930s, 40s 50s touring companies brought entertainment to towns and villages throughout Ireland. There were about 20 on the circuit. They would stay for a week putting on a different show each night. Some of them performed in Scotland as well. One was The Frank O’Donovan Show which included the 5 members of the family plus 5 or 6 others. Frank O’Donovan wrote songs. He penned many song including “Sitting on the bridge below the Town”, “The Road by the River,” and “On the One Road.”
The latter waswritten in early 1940s and was adopted by the Irish Army and sung in Irish at campfires at night. The chorus
North men, South men, comrades all
Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Donegal
We’re on the one road swinging along
Singing a soldier’s song.
Reflects that men have come from all parts and provinces of Ireland to join the army and to fight (and die) for their country. The words of the song also reflect that they come from various backgrounds with one aim – to serve their country. It’s not a “rebel” song. Anyone who feels hurt by the song or who feels there is an anti Protestant slant to it should wake up and smell the coffee.
Whether it should be sung at football matches is another debate.

Today’s refereeing at Ibrox suggests Scottish football has been dragged into a men in black hole.
Great afternoon out in Glasgow with the good lady. Couple of pints whilst she did some shopping, terrific meal in La Boca on Hope St rounded off with the 5pm train back home with the news from Ipox. Back home with a beer in the garden.
Sad to see that Pedro is buying into the Herrenvolk silliness of his team’s followers: “We are the people”. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that it’s a cultural misunderstanding on his part.
I was saying to Cathach’s brother after the result at Ibrox and Thistle not getting a penalty last night that maybe, in light of Paul67’s article yesterday, a wheen of football folk in Scotland might be getting a wee bit worried.
Mind you, he reminded me that Beaton, the last time he reffed one of our games, did it very fairly.
Madden isny honest and fair tho, that’s two games involving the huns I have seen brother Beaton where he has been fair and as honest as he could be, must be hard for him right enough, but fair dues to him.

Maybe the old Sevco supporting refs are a little bit worried about any forthcoming review which could expose their past shenanigans and are therefore trying to appear even-handed to redress the balance.
Okay, I’m sure that isn’t the case and I’m talking rubbish. Ignore.

“Guardiola playing 3 at back with Walker and Danilo playing has wingbacks just now was thinking if Pedro could bring in another decent CH we could play similar way to City.”

Wash your eyes in carbolic soap when you return from hunmedia. :(
Arnolds posting again on hun media.
A man down for 3 thirds of the game, with a midfield 4 including Miller compared to their midfield 5 was always going to have one outcome.
The ref was a c##t, some players were really poor, and Pedro at fault for not identifying and fixing problem after we went to 10 men.
DD – the match analysis is always constructive on FF ….:)
Honestly you couldn’t make this up, listen around 2 minutes 40, it is just comical
