PEDRO’S SUCCESSOR – WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

1

THE Usual Suspects are lining up to take over from the sacked Pedro Caixinha at the Comedy Club.

Someone must be having a laugh pricing former Celtic and Scotland manager Gordon Strachan at 33/1.

That’s almost as absurd as Ally ‘Super Salary’ McCoist being invited back. You can get odds on 18/1 on the former boss, although he is still fuming at the Celtic fans singing You Let Your Club Die, to him last night.

And Paul Gascoigne is also installed at a very tempting 100/1. The madcap Geordie would be an interesting choice in succeeding potty Pedro. He would probably bring some sanity to the 5 year old club.

Out-of-work Billy (no-one likes me and I really do care) Davies, in fact, has been installed as the bookies’ favourite to take over the team that already trail Celtic by eight points in the Premiership, were knocked out of Europe by Luxembourg’s Progres and were dumped from the Betfred League Cup by Motherwell on Sunday. There’s always the Scottish Cup, of course…

Caixinha was sacked after just 229 days in charge and didn’t win three games in a row during his wretched tenure.

And now Davies, who began his playing career in Govan and has had managerial spells with Motherwell, Preston, Derby and Nottingham Forest, is the 9/2 favourite with Ladbrokes.

Alex McLeish is 5/1 for a second spell managing the club while Graeme Murty, who took charge of the team on an interim basis prior to the arrival of Caixinha, is at 6/1. McLeish is pitching his tent outside Ibrox now and intends to tell everyone who passes by that he is ready to come back, if Dave King will answer his calls, emails, texts, messenger, whatsapp, and letters.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes and frozen-out striker Kenny Miller are both 8/1 to take the job. It will take £1million to get McInnes so he is not the cheap option for King.

A blizzard of former players are also included such as 12/1 shot Frank de Boer, ex-captain Barry Ferguson (16/1), Gennaro Gattuso and Ian Durrant (20/1) and Shota Arveladze (25/1).

Amazingly, Sam Allardyce hasn’t been mentioned. Yet.

That’s the rundown to the CQN Betting for the Sevco job. If anyone asks about the Rangers job there are only two candidates capable to taking that on. The new Doctor Who is 16/90 odds on and the challenge is that old Professor from Back to the Future. He is 20/12.
