CELTIC idol Stan Petrov wants Sevco Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to play at Celtic Park.

The Bulgarian hopes the Liverpool legend to agree to take part in the charity fundraiser at Parkhead next month between Hoops and Anfield heroes.

Gerrard’s ex-Kop team-mate James Milner has asked the Ibrox gaffer to pull on the boots again and make a guest appearance in the match.

Petrov and Milner are organising  ‘A Match For Cancer’ in the east end of Glasgow which will be sponsored by Dafabet on September 8 with a 2pm kick-off.

Jurgen Klopp will take charge of the Reds and Celtic’s former star midfielder, who joined the club from CSKA Sofia in 1999, would love for Gerrard to get involved.

Petrov said: “He has been asked. He is invited and is more than welcome. You can give people opportunities.

“When James announces his team, you will see.”

Henrik Larsson and Lubomir Moravcik have already agreed to turn out for Petrov’s squad which will also include the likes of John Hartson, Artur Boruc, Paddy McCourt, Shay Given, Joos Valgaeren, Robbie Keane, Simon Donnelly, Jackie McNamara and many more.
