RODGERS EYES WEBBER AS NEW SCOUTING SUPREMO

STUART WEBBER, the Huddersfield Town Head of Football Operations, has emerged as a frontrunner to become Celtic’s new scouting chief.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is seeking his own talent spotter following last week’s departure of John Park after nine years at the club.

Webber, 32, a former academy scout at Liverpool, features high on the list of candidates for the Parkhead role.

He started out at Wrexham before moving to Anfield on academy recruitment in 2009.

A brief spell with Queens Park Rangers was followed by three years as Head of Recruitment at Wolves before the Welshman moved to Huddersfield to replace Ross Wilson, now in a similar position at Southampton.

Ex-Falkirk scout Wilson also features in the Scottish champions’ thinking, but turned down a previous opportunity to work for them.

Huddersfield are currently flying high in the Championship and are fourth in English football’s second tier.
