Who can make a case for Deila taking us into the ECL qualifiers? Based on our experience to date? And that assumes he can hold off the mighty (cough) Aberdeen. If we get beat on Wednesday Ronny will know what real pressure is. This season has been rank rotten and could get worse under this B-list manager.
Peat from Islay. Exactly my point. For the money we spend its a poor return ,mainly due to the remit given to the scouts from PL. is they must have a sell on valve
boycott the pie stalks and merchandise Lawell must leave our club. He is killing it , easy pension money for him
Just to place your winning percentages argument in context, I list:-
Martin O’Neill 75.53%
Neil Lennon 72.12%
Jock Stein 69.20%
Billy McNeill 66.67%
John Barnes 65.51%
Gordon Strachan 65.19%
Willie Maley 64.75%
Wim Jansen 64.71%
Jozef Venglos 58.00%
Liam Brady 57.14%
Kenny Dalglish 55.55%
Tommy Burns 54.80%
David Hay 51.78%
Tony Mowbray 51.11%
Jimmy McGrory 49.58%
Lou Macari 32.00%
Barnes & Deila are tied at 5th equal currently for what that’s worth. WGS, with a lower percentage won 3 and narrowly lost the 4th league. WIm Jansen is lauded for stopping the 10 but his percentage is lower. Ronny won a double domestically last year and was cheated out of a treble. This year a double is still on the cards.
I am well aware of the fans loss of confidence in RD but, whatever this is, it is not a domestic failure. And I will stand by that even if we lose to Aberdeen on Wednesday.

I am afraid the answer to all of those questions is sadly, yes, some people do in all of those situations. Not all families are anywhere near free of guilt in regard to that. Thankfully, most families are a lot better than that.
My contradiction does not change the fact that we are currently in a situation where the majority view is anti-Deila. While that situation exists, RD’s jaiket hanging hook is in need of some screwdriver remediation. We can sack him and win a double, we can keep him and win a double. We can sack or keep him and a double might be lost either way.
Interesting. Surprised me, but nevertheless it does add context.

I do wonder how the % success figures of Big Jock, MON, WGS etc were year on year. Only from memory, I ain’t got the time to do the analysis, all of the above had a significantly stronger initial period than the likes of Ronnie, and John Barnes, Tony Mowbray.

Once you scratch the surface of that anybody can beat us. Add in Ronnie’s cerebral approach to footie and lack of instinct and you feel we’re not making progress.

Scottish PEN is concerned by the news that Angela Haggerty has been dismissed from her position as columnist at the Sunday Herald for showing her support for fellow journalist Graham Spiers.
Journalists and writers require the support of their employer to ensure they can reflect and give voice to the diverse opinions and beliefs held by both their readership and the wider community. In this manner we are deeply troubled by the precedent these actions may create that undermines a journalist’s ability to report on issues of public interest in a fair, open and free manner.
Scottish PEN is also concerned by the reports that this action came about following pressure being exerted on The Herald by Rangers Football Club. While the details of this are unknown, Scottish PEN calls for more information to be made public and reaffirms our call for a wholly independent press beholden not to advertisers and private companies, but to its readership, the community and the ideals of a free press.
Journalists who are restricted from carrying out their job and lacking the full and constructive support of their publication cannot best serve the varied communities across Scotland. This will only breed timidity and a press defined not by its actions, but by its inactions.
In Haggerty’s own words: “The only positive that can come from this is for all of us to respond with an even louder message: we will not be intimidated, we will not be silenced and these campaigns of harassment have no place in Scotland. It has gone on for far too long.”

Waste of time looking at stats, when you are 3-1 up you don’t need possession or shots on goal you just need to hold what you have.
I believe most on here criticise when it is due. Can be OTT but remember this is Scotland we are playing in and our budget is multiples of any opposition.
The criticism is wholly due at this juncture and is fare. IMO.
I personally don’t believe the criticism of Ambrose has been fair. The boy cut across him and he clipped him accidentally at pace. Very difficult to stop that in a game when you are at pace (I used to play at pace) and defending. Almost inhuman to pull a dead stop in that situation. It was defo a pen and a red card under the current rules. But them should only be a yellow considering there was no intent if the rules were able to accomodate that type of judgement.

Yes we could have reacted better to going down to 10 men & certainly Deilia was found wanting with his tactics but like goals, refereeing decisions changes games. Whether it’s subtle decisions in allowing one team to grab & kick opponents more than the other or massive game changing moments. Yes the ref gave us a soft pen but the the score was 3-1 & the damage had already been long done. It’s too easy for people to point the finger at Efe, even when he does little wrong. What was he supposed to do yesterday? He was left exposed by poor defending in front of him & by Lustig going to sleep. He had to react but seeing he had no chance of getting the ball he let the Ross .county striker go. There was no challenge & any Minimal contact (with a capital M) was made cleverly by the striker & not Efe. Just as Derk Bo did at St Johnstone a few years back. Though he got a three game ban & was castigated, while Ross County’s player draws the plaudits, go figure eh?
For me it was never a pen, but making excuses in real time it could have looked like one. Though it was was never deserving of a red as Gordon had the ball. Thomson as ever couldn’t wait to get his red card out just as he couldn’t wait with Virgil & Tanadice. This guy like so many whistlers in Scotland Are desperate to punish Celtic players while allowing the opposition free reign to do what they like. Just as he did for Ross County’s second goal. Funny he missed a rugby tackle on Gordon but saw the slightest of touches on Ros County’s attacker at the other end? How could he possibly see the most difficult one and not the other more obvious infringement? Indeed I wonder!
I hope to see Celtic appeal Efe’s red card he should have it recinded.
