After the 30 or so year I.R.A.campaign,the Irish govt. no longer claimed the 6 counties.

Absolutely. Can I suggest that there should be an annual Mint Sauce Award for Scottish sports journalism – awarded by the Celtic community to the lickspittle journo who has published the most execrable copy.
I’d contribute cash to pay for the plastic trophy every year – which should of course be in the shape of a gravy/sauce boat.

sorry can you just say what your trying to say ?
How did the Irish gov claim the 6counties before 69 ?
They may have obviously and rightly so considered it to be part of Ireland but the Irish gov have much more involvement in the 6 counties now than they did before 69, investment and lots of ongoing cross border work.
Anyway i dont think too much of the Irish gov, they are a bunch of crooked cowards like most gov who have done nothing to carry on the ideals of connolly, pearse . Messed the country up and of course expect the people with the least to carry the burden and also take even more from them. At the same time give themselves nice pay rises and pensions.
And another thing for them to show positive support to the republican cause in the 60’s onwards would have taken balls. They showed they were lacking that while Irish people were beaten off the streets and burned from their homes. Similar to what the Tans did throughout the 26counties.. short memories.

Moyes was an excellent manager at Everton, when resources were comparatively scarce. They were teak tough at home and he appeared to be able to maintain a small first team core.
Sociedad was always a tough ask. United was going to be difficult for even the very best manager- it remains so with a rejuvenated squad under LVG.
