CELTIC have been keeping tabs on South African international centre-half Rivaldo Coetzee, according to his club.
Ajax Cape Town technical director Mich d’Avray claimed the Hoops have sent scouts to spy on the 20-year-old defender.
There have been reports Coetzee went AWOL from the team’s pre-season training camp after a number of offers for him were knocked back.
D’Avray, though, insisted no bids have been made for the player and added the club would not block his exit if a suitable offer came in.
He said: “Yes, we are aware of the interest from Celtic. The club is still waiting for the official offer.
“I can also confirm that they did send a scout to watch Rivaldo,
“We don’t intend to stand in his way. If the offer is presented on the table, I have no doubt that the club will listen to it.
“At the moment, there is no concrete offer that I know of.”
Coetzee’s agent Mike Makaab added: “There is interest from Celtic. Last week they sent a scout to monitor him in a friendly match in Cape Town. I can’t say more than that.”
Denmark’s Brondby and Belgium’s KV Ostend have also been linked with the 16-times capped youngster who is rated in the £800,000 bracket.
