Spotlight will inevitably find Moussa, wanted or not

356

You know when you get to a stage with a player when you think, “Moussa, how about you slow down with the international goals?” Celtic are ticking along well right now, and while I appreciate how important it is that when we sell players, we sell them at an elevated price, I’d be happy if Moussa didn’t attract too much attention right now.

His hat-trick for France under-21 last night was another milestone in his inextricable rise to the top. Coming hard on the heels of Olivier Ntcham stealing the show last week for the same international side, we can expect plenty of scouts at Celtic Park in the coming weeks.

Australia v Honduras tomorrow morning is the last World Cup qualification fixture involving Celtic players before headcount returns to full levels at Lennoxtown. This international break (for those who got the break) was invaluable to Celtic. We have two games per week from Ross County on Saturday until the winter break on 30 December.

That’s 13 games in 42 days, including a cup final, two Champions League fixtures, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and Newco; the squad will be stretched to its limit.

  1. Just as well we have the squad to do it.

Good article on E Tims Diary about Sevco using the dead clubs name.E Mail adress also if anyone wants to contact BDO.

    I did.

  2. I think Brendan and the board will be talking to Moussa now about an extension. The boy seems to have his head screwed on,and if he thinks another couple of seasons under Brendan will be good for his career,he may well extend.A good display against Anderlecht, and in the Europa will boost his value to somewhere we could never have imagined.A big sell, but if we can get him longer, what a talent he is fast becoming.

  3. If we get offered £20m+ for big Moussa, it will be something the club have to think seriously about. All it takes is one bad &/or recurring injury to lose that kind of earning potential on a player.

I think he’s a fantastic talent and would love to see him in the hoops for years to come, but I think we’ll lose him in due course to a top club from England or Spain. As long as we get his market value with adequate add-ons/clauses and Brendan gets the money to reinvest, we’ll do ok.

Busy means a successful Celtic and it’ll be busy in the new year as well when we play

in our third League of the season.

Its expensive being a Celtic fan what with all these leagues and cups finals in which to support

    the bhoys.

The’ larger squad’ already separates us from Scottish sides, the player we have on the bench is

of a better quality and BR uses all his bench in SPL games to maximum effect.

December should set up in the Europa where a great run is by no means beyond this squad.

  5. reserves against PSG? and get hammered 10 -0? Not good. Will fans who travel want to see that? Play strongest team. Keep it tight and hit them on the break. We could nick a point which gets us into EL before the last game. Or if Anderlecht nick a point of BM. keep it level. Scotland barely crossed half way line in paris and won with a 40 yard effort. nothing is impossible

  6. get Ajer some games in PL just in case we need him for Europe. He is an experienced player, in midfield, so he is not a complete rookie. Better than playing Bitton in those games where we know what he can do. KA will relish the chance

    £20m?

I wouldn’t insult Moussa by letting him know that someone valued him at such a paltry price. It barely covers the signing-on fee for a quality striker nowadays.

And is £10m less than offered for Jonny Evans-a 30yo journeyman centre back-in the summer.

Nope, can’t see it. Which means you’re probably correct!

  8. Need to play full team in CL games, still inexperienced at that level. Great education for the players IMO.

  9. I really hope Moussa stays for the Europa (if we get there) competition. Whats he got to lose after all? They will just want him more if he scores the winning goal in the final. ;-)))

  10. The only way open to Celtic supporters regarding BBC Scotland’s obvious bias is to with-hold their licence fee.

Don’t refuse to pay it–put in in a named account until such times as the situation is looked into.

Scotland today is a mirror of N.Ireland in the 50s/60s. A bigoted hole where turning the other cheek gets it slapped twice as hard. You speak to a bully in the only language they understand. If a bully hits you, hit him back twice or three times. The BBC in Scotland has shown nothing but contempt for Celtic FC and it’s supporters. Withdraw their privileges and do the same with the press. They need Celtic more than Celtic needs them.

I fully agree with your last paragraph. Not sure we’d get away with the earlier part though.

Which is exactly the problem. How do we sort it without causing ourselves bigger problems? Especially as the huns think it’s them who are being victimised!

Of course, that also draws a parallel with NI-the merest hint of a demand for fairness saw them up in arms over perceived pro-taig bias…

I was at the ticket office just over 2 hours ago, no queue for the tickets made available for the league cup final .

Part of the sevco end will be green and white at that game.

  15. Interesting that the LC Final does not seem to be a sell-out. Celtic park being near to full most games would counter any argument that are growing bored with our astonishing success rate.

Could it be the Hampden Affect?

    JJ

  16. Bada,

Perhaps pragmatic more than reasonable but I would like it to be the latter and hope that it might be a sign that other Scottish Clubs are beginning to see that Celtic really are Scotland`s Team.

  17. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Bada Bing, the Motherwell chief executive comes over as a sensible man.

He was the only chief executive or director from the Premier League clubs to publicly state the importance the £350000 Uefa payment was to them as a result our champions league participation.

When Motherwell could not sell all their allocation for the semi final , he promptly arranged for the sevs to get the tickets not taken up by Well fans. I take this as a shrewd move by ther chief executive , due to the pooling of gate receipts between the four teams in the semi finals , so they got a bigger share.

Then again I might be talking mince , again

Mark McGhee is back in management , he was appointed manager of Barnet in English League Two.

  20. Dallas- when the Motherwell guy got the Chief Exec job, he said PL was a huge help to him too, the empty seats at the Hibs game was criminal.

  21. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

!!BADA BING!! on 14TH NOVEMBER 2017 4:42 PM

Was it ever established whether the empty Hibs’ seats at the semi were due to apathy from the Hibs’ fans, or as a protest against the football authorities.

    I would applaud the latter.

  22. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Bada , that is a rarity in Scottish football, another club’s chief executive praising ours.

I wonder if Leeann Dempsey was still at Motherwell , she would have reacted the way her replacement has?

The Hibs board’s performance , unless there was a boycott, with the unsold semi final tickets , was bang out of order.

  23. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE ADVERTISING

ITS ALL THE WAY DOWN THE SIDEBAR AND IS HARD TO GET RID OF.

Sorry for the shouting but it is annoying.

  24. Does anyone remember there was to be an inquiry about how 60m was spent adding seats to the terracing at Hampden? Was that ever concluded?
