Standing in, or walking to, the right place

I watched Moussa Dembele’s goal on Saturday again. Danny Wilson left his post which gave the Celtic striker the opportunity. The weight of his mistake was immediately apparent to the Newco player, who swung his fist into the turf three times.

Wilson made a mistake which will damage his reputation, but in violently punching the pitch, he was acknowledging the error, and its consequences. You’ll seldom see a player displaying this level of dissonance getting grief from a team-mate.

Compare that to the reaction to Scott Sinclair’s goal. Newco had two central defenders on Dembele. As the move developed, Tavernier was on Sinclair, but the Celtic midfielder jogged 10 yards clear of his marker.

Just as Stuart Armstrong played the ball to Patrick Roberts, Tavernier looked around, but not in the direction of Sinclair, who was already free. When Sinclair converted Kiernan yelled at Tavernier

Part of the game is just standing in, or walking to, the right place. Failure to do this isn’t an indication of lack of talent, more, Newco have not done the basics on the training ground.

I’m still hopeful a deal can be done, if not, we will just pick an exotic Latin American-y sounding named fella and say we are looking at him instead

    Should do the trick

I read a story that Celtic can win the league in a record time against Thistle in April. It won’t happen then. We’ll win it during March, probably game 29 on 18th away at Dundee or, possibly, game 28 on 11th home against Sevco.

Lurking huns, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is drop fewer than six more points than we do before 11th March. I understand you’ve 4from6 away from fortress ibrox next. Oh dear.

I said on here early on that Brendan Rodgers is the best manager we have had since Jock Stein and got some stick for it.

Another small problem for BR re the transfer window was alluded to by REGGIE.

He will be looking to strengthen with players who can improve our chances of surviving the CL qualifiers.

    That means playing them.

Apart from the possibility of breaking up the continuity of a successful team as they bed in,it also reduces the opportunities for our younger players to break through.

It’s a difficult one to get right. Some of our youngsters may well be outstanding prospects, but not yet outstanding players at the level Brendan requires. And they won’t achieve that unless they get a run of games to learn from.

If they can barely scrape a mention in the current team, their chances will not be enhanced by Brendan signing ready-made improvements.

    This management lark’s easy,innit?

    ………………………………………………………………………………………..

First and Foremost, a very Happy New Year to You and all your Crew.

Brendan is ruthless in wanting the very best for Celtic.

I hope the League is in the bag ASAP so we can get as many Celtic Schooled players in the First Team. They Deserve a chance. Kieran is the First of so many, IMO.

Brendan is so influenced by Tommy Burns.

A cracking comment earlier about players almost making at Celtic going on to have a very successful fitba career.

CELTIC is the place to be.

Hail Hail fella, hope yer well.

I’m afraid that yer wee cheap swipe at MO’N canny be tolerated – stuck-up-clique-behavior-at-it’s-best imho.

Ye conveniently overlook the fACT that, MO’N was competing vs a Rangers FC side assembled at a cost of £100 million and, still at that time being backed by a bank that they didny have to pay back + Dallas and his mibs were waiting for MO’N on the pitch as well. I’m sure that you’d agree that, what MO’N faced was a far bigger mountain of hunnery than what Brendan has been asked to deal with ?

When ye think about it, the cheap put down’s of MO’N’s achievements at the Cellic were the thing of the day with the SMSM of the time who’s mantra was always – “Oh, nobody had the money that MO’N got at Cellic.”

Indeed, unwittingly, MO’N might have dug a grave for the Cellic manager who followed him when, at being questioned of his interest in Chris Sutton(by DD), a player who had only scored one goal the previous season and, MO’N wanting £6 million for the player – “I’m the manager…if you don’t mind ?” – MO’N’s cards on the table swipe at DD, might just have ensured the generation of puppet-managers that followed him….until the arrival of Brendan. Eleven years of puppet-managers led to the stadium being enveloped in apathy with, 30,000 fans disappearing out of they’re seats and, threatening not to renew….frightened DD into action and, if he had to be frightened into action at all….should he really be in control ?

    Anyway,…..Hail Hail.

A winter shut down is most welcome after 9 games in December (remember when we used to dread December as it was when we would always drop points?), but 3 weeks without a match to divert attention may be too much for CQN. I mean, an international break is only one week and all hell breaks loose on here – what will 3 weeks be like?

I propose 3 weeks of lists…like top 5 Moussa Dembele goals against Sevco (by the end of the season we may be able to make it a top 10!)

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I was impressed with two aspects of Brendan’s prep….

    1. Talked about how to deal with losing the first goal. That worked out very well!

    2. How to deal with a sending-off. Never happened ~ possibly just because the players were a bit more “wise” to the MIB.
