Stokes mentor Hughes and O’Dea at Dees

488

Anthony Stokes joining up with John Hughes for a third time, on this occasion in Inverness, would be a great move for all concerned. Hughes knows how to get the best out of the player, who is wasting away in the stands at Celtic. There will be a financial consideration, as unlike a team in the English Championship, Inverness will not be able to cover all of Stokes’ wages, but Celtic are better having a contribution to his wages than nothing.

Anthony is still only 27, he could have several productive years ahead, but he needs to get back to putting the ball in the net somewhere (last goal was against St Mirren in December 2014).

Also delighted to see Darren O’Dea back in Scottish football at Dundee. As we discussed last week, Dundee are full of goals at both ends of the field at the moment. An experienced international like Darren (28) will help.

    Good result……………….mebbe.

    Big home crowd .

Don`t want them to go home disappointed.

    Oz fitba` needs crowds.

  4. The efforts of Rangers First in trying to raise money with the goal of buying up a stake in their club is, at a general level, a commendable goal. I am very much for fan ownership. So, good motives.

The way they are being manipulated by a person like King, and willing to offer loans without any guarantee of converting that loan into equity is just profoundly stupid. If they do that then they deserve to get their fingers burned.

Instead of being really inquisitive into the state of their club, their current board and future roadmap, they would rather sweat the small stuff – deflecting away from the core issues with their sense of victimhood, and how they have been wronged, or Mike Ashley.

Allegedly, just before his execution by beheading, Henry Vane the younger asked the executioner to not hit a painful blister he had on his neck. Sevco fan groups need to stop worrying about their blisters and concentrate on the axe and the neck. But it’s alright with me if they ignore that advice…

    Gemme`s a bogey.

    You`re right.

Not a good standard of domestic football.

However, the Australia team does well in international comps.

The best players are picked up by overseas teams.

Rogic being a case in point.

When I arrived in Oz , soccer was called WOGBALL.

    I`m afraid I`m a T.V. fan.

However, from my experience the facilities are first rate.

ie. easy to get a beer and a snack, all reasonably priced.

Aussies love sport and as a matter of rule, sports administrators cater well for the punters.

  9. macjay1 for Neil Lennon

Thanks! I’m just interested as I had a feeling that Aussies would set up sports stadia well. I feel in UK we are lagging well behind. Prices and quality of facilities being two major issues.

I’ve just received a response from BT Sport regarding the Ibrox Hibs game. As you will see the response basically says it could have been a lot worse if they didn’t place the microphones so far away from the crowd.

Thank you for contacting BT Sport about the issue of sectarian chanting. We appreciate you taking the time to get in touch with us.

We recognise that inappropriate behaviour by fans at live sporting events has the potential to cause offence. We mitigate this by taking precautions before and during the match to reduce the level of potential sectarian chanting being broadcast. At this specific game, prior to kick off, the crowd mics at the Ibrox Stadium were carefully placed in a very high position, which means any crowd chanting is less distinct than if the mics were placed at ground level. During the game we also reduced these pitch side microphones further.

We aim to strike a balance between mitigating potential offence and ensuring that home viewers can experience some of the atmosphere at the ground.

We hope the above reassures you that we take our responsibility as a broadcaster very seriously.

    Best wishes

    BT Sport Team

Sorry, getting the kids to bed.

Any venue/stadium etc have all been really good. Sydney was excellent as you got free public transport for any major sporting event included with your ticket. Tonight at Geelong was really well organised especially as most people had probably never been there before. Probably help when the police carry guns though :)

    Thanks for taking the time.

I guess that most of the venues will be newer and will have been located in areas where infrastructure can built around the stadium (but that might be a naive assumption). I certainly find that that is the case when I have been to sports events in America. I think in UK we probably lack the space to have really well planned large venues.

P.S. Not really in favour of police carrying guns but I get what you mean :)

    This is a wealthy country.

Big bankcard payments to be made thanks to previous big spenders, however this is a great country to live in if you are poor.

Sport is of huge interest and catering for sporting venues is usually ,in my experience ,very good.

    Moved to post.

The reason why those running the game are able to treat it as their personal plaything is because they know eejits will still pay to watch the bloody thing!

    It’s a simple enough solution.

The next time there’s a Celtic supporter at Hampden we know who to blame for the state the gemmes in n yet they’ll still moan n shout about masons when another treble gets stolen or some such other baw baggery.

This for me is an admission that they should be issuing warning before the broadcast if these are the levels that they are prepared to go to.

It is an admission that they make exceptions for the huns without daring to bad mouth them.

Perhaps there is an idea in there.

Place microphones at a set spot around stadium above which offensive chants become audible.

If they go above a certain decibel reading for say 5 seconds the TV company reduce the payout to that club for that game.

They just tell the league who tell the club they will have £x reduced from their share.

There could be fun calibrating the equipment to the nature, length, volume, numbers and offensiveness of the song but if you know belting out TBBS is going to automatically reduce club income it might just cause fans to be more self policing.

  21. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo on

    Auldheid,

BT should also be asked if they are turning up the sensitivity at other games ? For any particular reasons. Especially in November
