The latest Celtic book from CQN, ‘That Season In Paradise’ by Alex Gordon, is out now and it is THE definitive annual of season 1966/67, the most monumental and memorable in the proud history of the club.
It is, of course, the remarkable campaign in which Jock Stein’s team majestically swept the boards at home and abroad, claiming every glittering prize that was possible.
The European Cup was won for the first time by a British team and it was stylishly added to the second successive League Championship, the Scottish Cup and the League Cup with even the Glasgow Cup thrown in for good measure.
As the author points out, David Coleman, the respected BBC TV commentator, said at the time: “Celtic would have won the Grand National and the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race, too, if they had bothered to enter.”
