When someone writes the Celtic Story on our 200th anniversary there will be a page about when The Thai Tims came to Glasgow. It’s a part of the Celtic Story which reaches from 1888 to the present day, and, if we do our job as Celtic fans well, will ensure the character of the club retains a distinct and generous flavour.
The Thai Tims, formally the Good Child Foundation, arrive from Thailand next month and will perform at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, on Thursday 10 May, tickets are £12 and £6 for kids. If you have enjoyed them on YouTube, and I know you have…. buy a couple of tickets here or call 08444 77 1000 and get along before they’ve sold out.
You can also support the Good Child Foundation by contributing to the fundraising exercise via their Everyclick page.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you yesterday on the question about whether not registering players correctly was cheating. Busy, busy. Will get to it as soon as I can – no answering this question early, that’s cheating.

Great!
I really think we should learn the words of that one and belt it out at every opportunity!!!
ASonOfDan on 22 March, 2012 at 13:31
They picked it up from a Gordon Waddell article this morning – if he wrote it, it must be true. Aye right!
No-one is named in the article but somehow he discovered that Celtic will withdraw cooperation with Sky becuse other SPL teams are having a meeting. Lazy journalism is an understatement.

I hear what you’re saying & sympathize with your feelings but…
it’s difficult to contribute if the 10 don’t let you in
For that action alone Celtic should NEVER speak to them only about them.
Hail Hail
should be…. ‘because’ other SPL teams

Doesn’t help that a regular contributor on here got support when he said he’d sack all the “proddys” at Celtic Park.
Another good one from CTC. His words are in italics.
Q. What about stories of fabricated attendances at Celtic Park?
A. This is something that will be difficult to prove however it’s something I will look into.
This should be fun!!!
The fact is that back in the 1960’s the oldCeltic Park regularly hosted crowds of 75,000 people at Old Firm games and European games. In the 1980’s and early 90’s the stadium was every bit as busy looking at TV pictures for Old Firm matches but crowds are listed as 52,000.
Oh no, we’ve been rumbled.
Lets speculate that over a period of 10 years Celtic played an average of 22 home matches a season and rounded down their crowds by 10,000 a match. If the average admission price through those years was £8 we are looking at liabilities of £8 x 20% VAT x 22 matches x 10 seasons x 10,000 fans = £35,200,000! This would be before interest and penalties and could make the Rangers ‘Big Tax Case’ seem almost not worth talking about.
£35.2m and that’s without looking at interest and penalties. We really are in trouble. Must check calculations.
£8 x 20% VAT – ok , that’s easy its 1.6 (even disregarding the fact that VAT was 17.5% back then)
1.6 x 22 matches = 35.2
35.2 x 10 seasons = 352
352 x 10,000 fans = £3,520,000
Ah, so he was only 90% out in his initial calculations.

I would be horrified if that was true. Having read here for years I doubt it though.
I love the celtictaxcase blog! Just when things had gone quiet and we needed a bit of entertainment – keep it coming whoever you are!

Celtic Mac – Only recently the Celtic Board intimated that their preferential change to the SPL would be a return to a league of ten, playing each other four times a season. And especially playing Rangers four times a season
This playing each other team four times a season business (more than four if you meet them in the cups) business is slowly squeezing the air out of Scottish football.
Frankly, it’s boring. Even Us vs. Them games aren’t as eagerly anticipated as they used to be.
Familiarity breeds contempt. Football is supposed to be about entertainment. Seeing the likes of St. Mirren face the likes of Falkirk four times a season is just dull. It’s like seeing the same tired stand up comic do the same old routine with the same old jokes, over and over.
I’d like to see the likes of Ross County and Partick Thistle in the mix. They may or may not be able to add to the quality of the SPL, but they would certainly add some desperately-needed variety.
A 16 or 18 team SPL with each club meeting each other twice a season would be more entertaining than the current stagnant format. (thumbsup)

CELTIC have already crossed the finishing line in the SPL championship – before they run out to face Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.
That’s the view of Gordon Strachan, even though, officially, the Hoops need to win this Old Firm game and require Motherwell to drop points at Kilmarnock on Saturday before they are confirmed as uncatchable. Strachan was the last Celtic manager to bring the league title to Parkhead – and he did it three years in a row after arriving at the club in 2005. He said: “They are way over the line already. They did that when they came from 15 points behind Rangers to get it back to level. “From then on, there was no way back for Rangers they were already dead.” Strachan has looked on with interest as Neil Lennon has attempted to end Rangers’ three-season title-winning run which began in Strachan’s final campaign at Parkhead. Celtic are currently 21 points clear of both Rangers and Motherwell with just eight games to go. And, after what has been one of the most sensational reversals of fortune in any title race, the bookies are ready pay out. The former Parkhead boss can understand why because he reckons Lennon will take his players to Ibrox on Sunday knowing the job is already done. Even though Gary Hooper and Co. were stunned by their League Cup final defeat last weekend – which ended their 26-game unbeaten run – the former boss is adamant they have no reason to be anxious. However, Strachan understands that Lennon – who was a part of his backroom team when they made it three-in-a-row at an emotion-charged Tannadice just a few days after Tommy Burns died in 2008 – will want to make it official before he can relax. That opportunity could come this weekend at Ibrox, and Strachan can see a practical benefit if the trophy is brought back to Parkhead in double-quick time. “As a Celtic manager, you will want to finish them off once and for all as soon as possible,” he said. “If it drags on for a few more games it´s not fair to them, it can be annoying because you want to relax and start building for next season. “When it is won, Neil can go and watch other matches and look at players who might interest him. “It would give him an extra six weeks’ preparation for next season, and with Rangers not being there any more that can be invaluable.”
Partizan – Who said that? (thumbsup)
can someone point me in the direction of the comment section of the celtictaxcase blog ?

THE SPL’s ‘Gang of 10’ have stepped up their bid to wrest power from the Old Firm.
At a general meeting of the SPL to be held on April 12, they hope to push their proposal for a new voting structure. It currently requires an 11-1 majority to instigate change in major aspects of the league, including the number of clubs and TV money distribution. The 10 clubs have been meeting without Celtic and Rangers, and are uniting to force through this key change. If the Old Firm stand united, they can prevent the proposal being carried, so the other 10 need to get one of them onside. Celtic are vehemently against it, pointing out that the Old Firm generate 85 per cent of the SPL’s income. It was claimed today the Parkhead club have threatened to withdraw co-operation with Sky over the other clubs plans. A Celtic spokesman said: “We are sure all supporters would regard these attempts to create division and uncertainty as very concerning, particularly given the current state of the game in Scotland.” Other issues the 10 clubs want to discuss include bringing in an Under-20 league while an SPL II is another option they want brought back to the table. Changes to the financial fair play rules could also be put forward, while the SPL would like to be given greater power to penalise clubs who pay players late or go into administration.
I’ve got a new one for the celtictaxcase guy to get ripped into with his unrelenting investigations into the serial maybees of dodginess at Celtic.
I am sure we have all fallen into the trap of thinking the grub at Parkhead is edible – you catch the waft, you’ve had a few and are feeling brave – so join the unrelenting queue to happiness.
Paying the 10 quid bill for a ‘hot’ pie, slice of pizza for the mate and a drink you realise no amount of brown sauce in tiny packets can make the food edible. But the point is – it wasn’t meant to be eaten straight away. Celtic were indulging in an enormous, genius plan to extort VAT from the fans while not passing it onto to HMRC. The loop[hole was closed yesterday –
“Currently some retailers can bypass the law demanding VAT on hot takeaways from burger chains by claiming that their hot food, such rotisserie chickens, is not designed to be eaten immediately and is only kept hot to improve its appearance and aroma.”
Now admittedly I have never seen rotisserie chicken on the menu boards at Parkhead but the appearance and aroma of the grub is top drawer. It is clear as day to me that this was an extravagent con – I think we should get this boy on the case. It is another smoking gun.

Oh it’s real and if this is his first outing, I can’ wait to read more.
One last one but this is the reason the blog was set up
Q. Why are you setting up this blog?
A. Over the last couple of years the Internet and social media has been full of Rangers hating ‘journalists’ slandering The Club and dragging us to the cliff edge. With The Club now recovering from their sustained attacks and looking to come out of Administration stronger than ever we feel it’s time that other clubs, specifically Celtics, finances be properly examined.

Agree – that sort of comment is unacceptable
This really quite simple…….if the 10 other clubs exclude a member Club from a decision-making meeting, we exclude them from our co-operation on ANY future decisions …….. AND WE EXCLUDE THEM FROM RECEIVING AS MUCH REVENUE AS POSSIBLE FROM US………..BOYCOTT ETC
For the future of our Club, we have no other alternative, I’m afraid…..!!!!!!!!
Mort – It’s the little things, like his capitalisation of The Club, that make you realise he means business. (thumbsup)

Should we include free glasses from opticians, regardless of cost? No.
What if someone wants a second pair or prescription sunglasses? No.
How about laser eye surgery? Maybe. Could obviate necessity for expensive glasses.
Cosmetic surgery? Yes, in the cases of the badly disfigured.
Sex changes? In some extreme cases, yes.
Aromatherapy? No.
Homeopathy? No.
Hypnosis to help stop smoking? If effective, yes. Could save NHS millions. Therapeutic massage? Depends on the therapeutic masseuse.
@CeIticTaxcase: Are Rangers the first club in the UK to pay a player to keep their image rights? #daviedodds #celtictaxcase

As stated earlier I am in sympathy with your general point & I hope Celtic PLC have looked at things afresh.
The proposal for a SPL10 is not one I like though I can understand some apparent attractions – no artificial split, known fixtures from the seasons start, better for sponsors, a schedule TV can plan for and probably a bit more TV dosh. Maybe also SPL10 would involve an SPL2 (10) if you follow, with the add-on of play-offs
Not my choice but I can see there is a cogent argument which can be made in favour. Of course there is THE major flaw: the vast majority of fans don’t want it!!!
I’d choose a SPL14 myself and have posted my plan several times. TBH it didn’t receive much endorsement on here so that’s me put in my place. It does highlight though how hard it is/will be to build a consensus around any proposal.
There was an excellent post a little earlier about the responsibility of the other ten to raise their heads and see the opportunity for a new landscape for Scottish football and to make themselves less reliant on CFC and/or RFCIA. (Sorry can’t recall who posted). In effect, it seemed to me that his/her ‘clarion call’ to the others was similar to yours towards our Board.
In other words I do want Celtic to act and contribute to a new set up BUT not without new thinking from the other 10 as well and I don’t just mean “give us more of your cake”
Cheers

Google suggests VAT was 15% for the whole of the 80s so let’s revise again.
£8 x 15% VAT – 1.2
1.2 x 22 matches = 26.4
26.4 x 10 seasons = 264
264 x 10,000 fans = £2,640,000
With interest and penalties it might be as high as £10M. Administration on the cards I fear.

For once, I agree with you!
I cannot access this celtictaxcase blog from work, but I sincerely hope it is another manifestation of hun cunning.
In the bizarre parallel world of hun wrong-headedness one of the many things they fail to realise is that Celtic fans would willingly set up a genuine site aimed at keeping Celtic honest and outing anything dodgy, by ourselves.
If Rangers current situation was the other way around, I strongly believe Celtic fans would have taken the offending board out long before such systemic corruption was allowed to take root.
Do Lawwell and co get more abuse on Rangers forums than they get here?

I bet when Celtic Park is closed down and Dermot Desmond is arrested for being Irish, we would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for that pesky meddling Celtic Tax Case blog. (thumbsup)
