The international precious commodities

505

The first reaction to the international break is never positive: “How many players do we have away and what condition will we get them back in?” The team which stopped the ten had more representatives at the 1998 World Cup than any other side (a remarkable achievement), but we caught a cold from these exploits the following season.

Leigh Griffiths would no doubt be delighted to start for Scotland this week. Representing your country is one of the things footballers look back on in their later years, so for his own sake, I hope Leigh gets the call, but for Celtic’s I’d be quite happy for him to have a quiet couple of weeks.

Griffiths, Scott Brown and Nir Bitton are precious commodities to Celtic right now, we can’t afford international mishaps for any of them. There’s better cover for the others who will be on international duty, but Stefan Johansen in particular looks like could do with a break.

You’ll know Packie Bonner’s autobiography, The Last Line, launches this month. Packie has a night at Walkabout in Glasgow on 29th October, where the big man will speak about his career, and many other things, past and contemporary. Tickets are available here.

Delaney’s at 9.20, my dad never mentioned any Rangers (IL) players he respected. Although Jim Baxter and wee Wullie were good players, he told me neither could lace Bobby Murdoch’s and Jinky’s boots.

From what I have been told , neither Jim or Wullie were soiled by the prevalent bigotry at Ibrox.

Hope it would be a 10 point penalty for a first administration event for Sevco.

Clear recognition that they are a new club by the football “authorities”.

Well at least since the “temporary membership” /” transfer of membership” days of 2012, before they’d all got their Lie straight.

What really struck me about that list was the number of regulars who have disappeared from the blog since then. I’m much more of a lurker than a poster myself but a lot of those names were frequent posters.

Ha, just because you selected a winner at week 1 :-)

As a matter of fact so far, 22 out of 41 CQNers have paid CASH ( Criminally Adjusting Selective History) to buy back their history and airbrush the results of week 1.

So the prize money now stands provisionally at £480 to the last wo(man) standing. This is probably the largest prizepot yet! Thank you Aberdeen, Hearts and West Ham :-)

Still a bit of cash to come in before I can lock in the final monies.

And your right, a great cause , supported by many many fine people on this blog.

  13. Bit of chat today on the diminution in both quantity and quality of posts on CQN.

There could well be a number of reasons contributing to the above.

CQN has no divine right to escape the effects of the general decline in quality of things Celtic since the modern day peak of Seville.

Some may also feel that Paul has simply become a cyber space equivalent of the sometimes Pravda-like Celtic View, preaching the Gospel according to Peter.

Others, amongst them the deluded, who over the last four years have, with regular naivety proclaimed THEIR imminent death, may simply, realising their own folly, have given up.

Doubtless, in the last week as they digest the , not for the first time, nauseating pronouncements of DD, are simply coming to the conclusion that the game is simply not worth the candle.

And although they will never admit it, there are quite a few CQN’rs coming to realise that THEY are getting THEIR act together, both on and off the field, meaning that the fun of the last four years is coming to an end.

Even myself, a perpetual moaner and groaner, could hardly gee myself to hit the keyboard in the aftermath of the Malmo fiasco. And despite the happiest of clappers it was a fiasco on a scale that illustrates much of the malaise that currently afflicts Celtic.

  14. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Neil has been pulled up by the FA, for accusing the ref at Bolton’s game against QPR , of bias.

I have a feeling the likes of Waddle or Jackson will probably be running a negatve story about Neil regarding the above.

Warm and humid, start of the rainy season, but still warm.

    Enjoy.

BTW, I have been saying sort the referees, sort the problem since before I can remember, my Da was never into football, and he often told me when I was a wean, that supporting the Celtic would give me grief cos of the referees, I was too young to understand, but the older I got, the more I knew he was right.

Mr Stein said that putting the ball in the opos net more than they put it in ours would take them out of the equation, I agree, but IMO, it was one of the worst things he ever said, he was highlighting the cheating, and yet we are still arguing about it all these years later, a fecking national~sectarian disgrace.

  18. Hunderbirds are gone

Don’t think it’s relevant, mate, in the case of Sevco.

The club they’re pretending to be failed to exit administration, thus entering liquidation, making a second administration an impossibility, despite Glib& Shameless’ bilge about somehow being able to reverse it all, ‘cos we’re upsetting them with the new club truth.

So if Sevco are in the trouble being suggested, and they have to enter administration, it will be their first time, and so should only get a 10 point penalty.

I may however have completely misunderstood your question, of course!

A ten point penalty. More likely a levy on the rest of the clubs to keep ‘The Institution’ afloat.
