Topping agitates for a fans’ revolt

593

“The best hope for the Scottish game? It’s in the activity the fans bring to bear on big organisations.”

“Fans don’t realise yet how much change they can bring about”.

Not the words of a blogger-agitator, the words of out-going SCFL chairman, Ralph Topping, trying to incite fans to revolt against TV companies.  In the same valedictory interview to The Scotsman, Topping acknowledged the mobilisation of fans against governance standards at the SPFL, but turned his face to the fans.

The man has been in office for 8 years but has been a virtual recluse as far as the paying public are concerned.  Now we know why, he has no filter or self-awareness.

Not good enough, Mr Topping.  You have failed to answer any of the pertinent questions (here) and despite the game being brought into significant disrepute during your tenure, you have now briefed the press that you intend to ignore Celtic’s request that matters are reviewed.

If you want to incite a revolt from football fans, you are on track.  We’ll do what we can, I promise.

  2. Put the kettle on – a must read article!

SFA machinations, sexism and a bowling club blazer attitude.

Quote: “At 12, I had a paper round, delivered rolls, and picked tatties in the summer, anything to fund my football. I decided I had to go to see Celtic. A bus went through Stewarton for Glasgow and I had enough money for a half return. I arrived at Anderston bus station and started following the crowds, latching on to the Celtic fans, and walked all the way to Parkhead. I asked for a lift over…………”

Watched the second half of the Dundalk-Rosenberg first leg.

Very confident Celtic will handle any of them.Good draw for us.

I only found out about the charges when I crawled from my pit for nightshift. And you’re right, they raise some very serious questions.

Foremost must be the rule where you can’t appeal yellow cards.

Although a sanction in themselves-think of it like being a tennis player without the option of a second serve, your natural game is inhibited-other sanctions apply thereafter.

Five yellows, the club gets punished. Two yellows in the competition-three in some, and more in a league campaign-and the player is banned.

How many of our cards were really merited on Friday? How many were because the ref in the second half completely lost control?

Time this rule was overturned. The first time I saw McCurry in action-a home game v Hibs-he booked six of us. And who can forget his tour de force of nine yellows v the huns before remembering there were two teams on the pitch?

Seriously, high time we stopped being UEFA’s bitch and bit back.

Last I heard of Dallas he was the right hand man of Collina at UEFA training referees, maybe thats how his wee pal Collum still get the top games, rumour has it he is on a huge salary 600,000 euros per annum

    Gordy,

Be over next month at some point then in September for Pat’s daughter’s wedding..

  7. €600,000 per annum? Shez, that’s some gelt…… McCurry what a nasty little piece of work that pr… was, his last gig was pumping a burd in the hampden car park if my memory serves me right?

So Sevco inviting the Belfast bigots to Ibrox.

    A tenner a skull.

    Hand over yer cash Sammy.

  9. Cultsbhoy says Hail Hail to Hector and Brendan on

Funniest part of the Leigh Griffiths scarf incident…. Was the rather unfit 50+ Hun who entered the pitch with a ‘come on then’ hand gesture ( from a very safe distance)…..

Would have been great if he’d got close enough for Leigh to defend himself… Which I suspect he would have done… With vigour

Too funny! And the Chic Charnley one. . . . . .excellent.

  11. John James has released a series of revealing emails from the SPL Board distrubution email list. If we assume the information isn’t hacked I wonder how he got it. Possibly someone on that list or one of their secretary’s has leaked it to him. Or maybe someone who doesn’t want to speak out in public is working underground to expose the SPL and the sham that was LNS.

I do believe you have hit the nail on the head with brother Dallas.

If memory serves me right he is one of a trio who determine which referees get which games in UEFA competitions.

Collina is one of the others along with a Swiss guy who’s name escapes me.

Historically Dallas has always rewarded those who sing from his particular hymn book and I would be very surprised if he didn’t use his position within UEFA ever so subtlety to influence certain referees to his way of thinking

PS A big thank you once again to all those who made heartfelt comments on the passing of my brother Alan

  14. Amatim

Dallas’s hatered of our club is no seceret, how he got that job at UEFA after those despicable e males on. Our holy father I’ll never know , but I have a very good idea.

It just goes to show you that actions like that dont leave these bigoted little country, shocking.

  15. Just wonderin’ like….

How does tying a scarf around the goal post AFTER the game trigger fans to chuck coins and bottles at Leigh Griffiths DURING the game?

It’s obvious though, as outlined in the famous TONEV adjudication, fans obviously felt that in all probability he was going to do it and so this justified their actions.

Hmmmm, yes, that must have been it.

    Mr Griffiths, guilty as charged.
