TWO IN, TWO OUT AT CELTIC

BRENDAN RODGERS has brought in Ewan Henderson and Stephen Welsh to Celtic’s travelling squad for pre-season training in Austria.

At the same time, the Hoops gaffer has transferred centre-half Jamie McCart to Inverness Caley Thistle and midfielder Joe Thomson to Dunfermline, both players agreeing two-year deals with their new clubs.

Rodgers is keen to give younger players their opportunity and will have a look at attacker Henderson, whose brother Liam joined Italian second-flight outfit Bari last season, and defender Welsh during the rundown to the start of the campaign.

Both have trained regularly with the first team and Henderson got a 10-minute run in the end-of-season draw with Kilmarmock.

With three matches in the space of a week, the quality kids will get the chance to impress with Rodgers likely to change his entire team at half-time in each match.

The champions wish McCart and Thomson, who both graduated from the Celtic academy, the best of luck in their future careers elsewhere.
