WALTER SMITH: “We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune.”

FORGETFUL WALTER SMITH has demanded Celtic players should show Rangers* more respect.

The former Ibrox boss has taken aim at the Hoops as anticipation builds towards the first showdown between the two Glasgow clubs.

Smith said: “You’ve got to have an overall respect for the teams you play against.

“Rangers will have a respect for Celtic. I’m not so sure Celtic are showing the same respect, with some of the comments their players are making.

“One of them is talking about scoring a hat-trick.”

Smith is referring to John Guidetti who said he WANTED to score three goals at Hampden. He didn’t say he WOULD score a treble.

Smith added: “I don’t think you can turn round and disrespect your opponents by saying you’re going to score three.

“If that is an overall feeling that Celtic have got, then it gives Rangers* probably a better opportunity than maybe they should have.”

In June 2012 Smith was part of a group that attempted to buy whatever it was that Charles Green had purchased from Duff and Phelps, the administrators of Rangers, after they failed to achieve a CVA and were plunged into liquidation. This bid was however unsuccessful and Smith in admitting defeat had this to say:

“We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune.”

“We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune.” Walter Smith

Let’s say that again shall we Walter? “We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune.”

PS We forgot to mention Murray’s idiotic quote of spending £10 every time Celtic spent £5. How respectful was that Walter and how did that excess spending turn out for Rangers (1872)?
