Hibs may still finish second in the table, but pushing the champions all the way counts for nothing if you can be mugged at home by a St Johnstone team who had not scored in six games, picking up only a single point in the process. Hibs are better than this, but Neil Lennon needs to find the consistency sauce. Second place is there for whoever gets their act together.
And what about Newco? Murty came so close. But when it comes to reflecting on the most memorable match of his life he doesn’t dwell on an Old Firm hat-trick, goals that helped clinch an historic Treble or even a strike with the French Under-21s.
If Dembele allows himself a daydream, his mind wanders back to the tough streets of Paris where he was raised as a kid and where he forged a reputation that soon convinced boyhood favourites PSG to sign him as a youth.
