MIDFIELD enforcer Jani Atanasov could be on his way to Celtic – if the price is right.

The 22-year-old Hadjuk Split star, rated in the £1.5million range, has been linked with a move to the champions within the next few days, according to Croatian sports media outlet Germanijak.

Ange Postecoglou has been searching the market for a ball winner after allowing Israeli Nir Bitton to leave at the end of the season while Ivorian Ismaila Soro moved on a year-long loan to Portuguese outfit Arouca.

HOOP HOOP HOORAY…Jani Atanasov in the colours of former club Bursaspor.

Australian World Cup ace Aaron Mooy joined on a two-year contract last month, but the Hoops boss is still looking to strengthen the department.

Yosuke Ideguchi will be on the sidelines for several games after sustaining an injury in training while James McCarthy has rarely figured since his arrival as a free agent in August last year after leaving Crystal Palace.

Postecoglou is now poised to step up his bid and Atanasov, who won his first cap for North Macedonia in November last year in the 5-0 win over Armenia in a World Cup qualifier, appears to have moved to No.1 on his wanted list with the transfer deadline due at midnight on September 1.

ON A WING AND A PRAYER…Sead Haksabanovic hopes for a move to the Hoops.

The 6ft-plus middle-of-the-park operator has impressed in Croatia since joining the club from Bursaspor in 2020 and played a pivotal role in the side reaching runners-up place in the league last season, just missing out to Dinamo Zagreb in the race for the title.

The Celtic gaffer also refused to rule out a move for Rubin Kazan winger Sead Haksabanovic, as CQN reported yesterday.

He is awaiting the green light for Atanasov and Hajduk Split are willing to sell the defensive middle-of-the-park operator “for the right price” and now await a formal bid from the champions.
