£1.5m MISFIT IN LIMBO

CELTIC £1.5million flop Shin Yamada is in soccer limbo after failing to make an impact at the team struggling in Bundesliga 2.

Without a solitary goal following his summer arrival from Kawasaki Frontale, the Japanese frontman was shipped out on loan to Preussen Munster in January.

Yamada made 11 appearances for the Hoops with his only start coming in the 3-0 home win over Livingston in August.

The misfiring marksman moved to the second-tier German side in an attempt to revive his career, but he has been in at the kick-off just once and was hooked at half-time.

BLANKETY BLANK…Shin Yamada in action during Celtic’s scoreless stalemate in the derby encounter at Ibrox in August.

Yamada, capped once by his country, has played a total of one hour in his four other substitute appearances. And his time in Germany has plunged to new depths after being overlooked for the matchday squad for the last three games at the team sitting rock bottom of their division.

The side have only 28 points from 29 games and have just five matches to try to stave off relegation.

There is an option to buy in the loan agreement, but there is NO chance of the German club activating the clause for a player who has not scored in his handful of appearances.

Yamada will be returned to Celtic at the end of the season, as CQN reported last month, and his future is in jeopardy.

He still has three years to run on his contract, but will almost certainly be among the colossal summer clear-out at the champions.
